Manhwa Review: Haunted Electronics Shop

It's an ongoing horror series created by

as her debut manhwa. She's more known for her others like "Death When Separated" which I hear has a wacky plot for romantic comedy I might explore at a later date. I came upon her work while browsing for some good horror stories to pass the time.

Plot

It's an electronic shop located in an obscure place that has a suspicious lady sell people equipment they need with an odd warning. The horror starts when people pay no heed to these trivial warnings.

By alignment, I think the store owner is a being within the Chaotic Neutral leaning more to evil given how each case is treated like trophy for record keeping. It's not that they give cursed items that are defective, these items fulfill their functions normally unless a seemingly benign rule is violated and things start to get creepy.

There is an expectation that the customer would violate the rule and there is no remorse for endangering the customer. This shows that the business is the store owner's past time. It is shown that the owner is immortal and retains the same physical appearance with time.

If one had practiced a bit of common sense, they shouldn't just take free items for free and should be more wary if it comes off with an odd warning label. But this is supposed to be horror making a mockery about how dumb people can be failing the basic instructions.

There are few English translated chapters out so far. The stories come as episodic with some cases spanning for a few chapters. The stories can have bizarre turn of events that reminds me of the American show goosebumps.

In terms of rendering visual horror, the art has its own charm but being immersed with other art styles like Junji Ito's works, I'd say this one is more tamed. Being a manhwa, intricate details are not usually necessary as manhwas tend to put in the most minimal details as possible while making an effective impression. I'd recommend this to pass the time.
