Gerbera species as a potential material for worldwide commercialization

In the world the commercialization of species of showy colors at floral level, is one of the markets in constant expansion of there that at the moment strategies are being implemented to reproduce species of flowers of showy colors and aroma, and there the gerbera species represents a good option.

▶ Due to the fact that in South American countries there is little research on gerbera propagation by means of the in vitro culture technique, it is necessary to establish protocols that serve as a guide for the in vitro multiplication of this species.

On a worldwide scale, biotechnology laboratories are making an effort to establish an efficient protocol for in vitro propagation of this species.
It is even necessary to standardize the rooting phases in order to obtain complete plants ready to be taken to the field, and thus create means of commercialization of this colorful species at a floral level.
On the other hand, the time required for the acquisition of any gerbera variety could be much shorter, also reducing the physical damage that the material could suffer when being transported from Holland to South America.

For this reason it is necessary to carry out studies on the multiplication of gerbera through the technique of tissue culture and in vitro rooting using auxin type hormonal regulators that allow a good formation of roots and plants for its production.
