Hey Hivers What's Up?

Yeah hivers, we meet again after a few months of not posting on hive. Because I'm busy with work but even though I am sometimes busy with my work I keep miss making posts on hive.blog. 😃

Yeah, for several months busy with work, yesterday I was just able to play the game again. So in this post I want to share a game that I think is very unfortunate to pass, and I will review it here for those of you who love 2D games that have challenges.

What is the Katana Zero Game?

Katana Zero is a 2D, action, platformer, side scrolling game. And this game presents the concept of instant kill, time manipulation, fast action combat and a good story. Katana Zero slaughtering in style is also one premise the game embraces. You will do this through the role of a traditional samurai living in the modern era in Katana Zero.

Katana Zero presents 2D hack and slash action with satisfying animation effects, this game shows how it feels to fight against armed enemies by only relying on your dexterity in using a katana, plus your unique power to be able to stop time and predict the future.

Story Katana Zero

Katana Zero tells of a samurai named Zero who lost his memory after the war ended, now he is living as an assassin. During his work he always uses a drug called Chronos which allows him to see the future and manipulate time. Once upon a time he found traces of himself which turned out to be the subject of an experiment and found several people like him.

Katana Zero Gameplay

In Katana Zero what you actually do first is like predicting what things will happen or some kind of simulation that you will do to finish off your enemies properly. And if you have, then you will do what you should do automatically. This is actually the effect of the Chronos drug.

In Katana Zero you can not only run and attack but you can also throw items, reflect bullets, climb walls, or use slow motion and rolls. To attack you can direct it in 8 directions. This game also features a stealth element, but you won't do it that often.

And in the game Katana Zero has a dialog option feature where you can choose a dialogue answer. The dialog options will appear after you have listened to the conversation in full. Or if you don't like the dialogue, you can immediately choose an answer that sounds harsh or obnoxious without having to listen to the conversation completely. You also don't have to always be nice in conversation. Because later you will see a little change in the story or new secrets. And at times the path you are on can become increasingly difficult or easier.

For weapons in Katana Zero are very few and all of them are secret weapons that you can get under certain conditions. Unfortunately, you can only use them after completing the game and these weapons have their respective advantages and disadvantages. But this is not really a problem.

Katana Zero features a Die & Retry mechanism or called Rewind in this game where if you die you can repeat from the last place you met or when you were solving a puzzle. And if you die, you don't actually die. Even though the real thing is, you are predicting what will happen. This is also actually the effect of the Chronos drug.

As long as you play Katana Zero you will be accompanied by music. The music that is presented will also change at each level according to the atmosphere. All of the music in the game was composed by LudoWic and Bill Kiley. And for visuals, Katana Zero presents pixel-art visuals that may look simple. But if you pay attention to the visuals, they often present quite realistic details.👏

For the score I give 9/10 because Katana Zero is able to present a unique and strong enough story. And it delivers gameplay that forces you to act fast and instant death which makes it a challenge as well as great soundtracks and fairly realistic pixel art visuals. ☕
