Diary of An Apple : 2023 Has Come To An End

Today's Diary

It's a fresh start of the year and what a year it was, 2023. So many nights I cried myself to sleep. So many problems that made me zone out randomly. So many confrontations I didn't want to happen. But nevertheless, there are also so many things I was and am grateful for.

I don't know where to start. I can't say 2023 was a bad year for me, but I also can't say it was a good year. But what I am truly grateful for last year was when I was finally able to spend time with my family after 5 long years. I have spent most of my birthdays away from family or sometimes alone, even back when I was still in the Philippines. Last year I turned 30, and I really wished that I would be able to spend that special moment with my family. It was but a short 2-week vacation but I am really thankful that wish came true.

Due to some long overdue family matter that needs to be settled, I was again able to see my family after a few months. It was an impulsive decision I made but I was glad I pushed myself to do it. I was able to resolve a few misunderstandings. I was hoping to schedule that 2nd vacation on the holidays, but unfortunately my luck has ran out. But not all OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) have the chance to get to see their families twice a year or maybe not even once for a few years. So I guess I am still lucky. I am really really grateful I am now in a situation where I am able to go see my family without having to worry about work.

Of course I am grateful for my friends too. We've made and had so many fun memories on 2023 and hopefully this year too. For my team and manager at work, who had so much trust in me. I really felt so appreciated and valued at work unlike before. And most importantly, myself, for being able to get through the situations I had last (although I wish I didn't have to go through all of it lol).

Anyway, this felt like giving a speech but those are what I was grateful for last year, 2023. Happy new year and stay healthy all.
