Boats, sea, rocks, park, the horizon, the past and immensity.

There are places where one walks that are full of history and, knowing this, it feels as if one is treading where others have trodden, many others, even though we do not know them.

Every day I get to know this city better, every corner, and that's thanks to my walks, many of them very long. I cover great distances, take a break, and continue. Other times I have picnics or drink Argentine mate, and other times I just contemplate what I see.
The sea gives me something that no other place does. I don't know if it's the sound of the waves, the gentle swaying that resembles a delicate dance, or simply seeing the immensity and life. I have always loved water in all its forms. For example, I would feel trapped if I lived in the mountains, as if there were a wall around me. On the other hand, the sea offers me both immensity and the mystery of what lies beyond. I can see into infinity, even though I don't know what's so far away.

The sea and water in general have always been a great inspiration to me, especially for writing and painting. And this journey or walk begins at a shipyard where I could see few boats as they were inside a large facility, but I was able to admire a beautiful boat. I love them all, all boats.
I remember when I went to drawing and painting classes, I always wanted to paint ships, even if they were warships. I was passionate about it.

There is always something to look at, I always like to look back and I always say it, I really like paying attention to details and surroundings. There was a restaurant near where I was and houses and flats that were originally built for fishermen in this neighbourhood. It was a neighbourhood dedicated to fishing and I love walking around it. But this time, the idea was to follow the coast.

Passing through some narrow streets, I came to a park, which reminded me of one in my hometown, and I say “was” because, for many reasons, it hardly exists anymore, not as I knew it.

Looking up, I could see many nests. I'm not sure what kind of birds they belonged to, but I love seeing them and also enjoying the walk among the eucalyptus trees.

A few metres away was the sea, whose small waves and foam gently lapped against a large family of rocks on the shore, creating a sweet, relaxing sound.
The truth is that I could spend hours sitting on the sand admiring the water coming and going, listening to the sound it makes. I lose track of time and my gaze becomes one with the horizon where the sea meets the sky. I love the sea so much that when I am in it, I feel part of it.

I think it is, along with rain, the best sound there is, at least for me. Both are calming for the mind and healing for the spirit. But I wanted to continue my walk, so I only stayed in that place for a few minutes.

Further on, another place with a lot of history awaited me, where there is a large and famous restaurant that, in its heyday, hosted parties. In the era of the bourgeoisie, it had tennis and football courts, and everything sparkled.

Today, this resort is still beautiful, although I find it more rustic, more adapted to modern times, and perhaps in need of a major refurbishment. But I really like the way it looks. It is called Baños del Carmen.

There is a path in front of the places where you can sit and have a drink, where you can walk along the seashore and the water looks so beautiful and crystal clear that it is almost as if it were not there.
If I look up, I see boats, the horizon, the harbour in the distance, the city and more of the beauty of the sea.

To continue my walk, I had to leave through the large entrance to the place, where you can see its age, more than 100 years old. Once through that gate, the path continues along a promenade. The reason I had to do that is because in that area there is no longer a sandy beach to walk on, only rocks.

As I walked away, I could see the building on one side, imagining its former splendour, and on the other side, the mountains, the harbour and the city.

I walked for a long time and as I did so, I looked down at the sea, which was very calm, and I could see the bottom and its wonderful colours.

I can't help but look at the sea and always the horizon, how magnificent the calm water is and the peace it conveys to me.
Thank you very much for accompanying me on this Wednesday walk. I send you my warmest regards. See you soon.
Amonet.
