Increase in online instant delivery platform

There is a huge spike in the number of online delivery platforms available these days. In India, we used to have Amazon as the number one online platform and Flipkart next to that, but today we have so many such online delivery platforms. Some platforms deliver in just a few minutes, and that's what makes it more competitive. The best thing about these delivery platforms is that they can offer the products at the same competitive prize because there is always someone who can try and give things for a cheaper price.

Recently, I started using Instamart a lot. The main reason was that I was having some coupons from the CRED application, and to make use of those coupons, I started using these platforms. Instamart is my go-to because it is convenient, but my wife is using Zepto and Blinkit, which I haven't tried yet. Mostly the price would be the same, but delivery can be different and great based on where the warehouse is located. If we choose the service provider that has the nearest warehouse, then we can get the goods delivered as soon as possible.

I was wondering why this is very famous here and how they are getting their business. For example, today morning I needed something and I was hesitant to go and purchase it from a nearby supermarket or a nearby store. I did not mind spending some extra money to get it delivered to my house without having a need to move even a little. One way it is making us lazy, but I should say that it is convenient. In the future, this business will bloom, and there will be more needs for the same, and every industry will have a similar home delivery model, that too lightning-fast delivery model.

Local shops get affected

There is a high chance that local shops can be affected because of this. Many people obviously prefer to purchase things online instead of walking to a nearby store. But there are places in India where this is not very popular, and it is not possible to have this as a service. In such places, the local shops will continue to have the demand, but things will definitely keep changing. Even today, the local shops rely on some regular customers who purchase their provisions from the local shops. The main reason is that some people have an emotional connection with the local vendor, and in cases where even if some things are cheaper elsewhere, they don't mind paying extra to the local vendor and getting it from there.

Some local shops are clever and they understand how the demand is going. In rural places, there will be a demand for local shops, but in urban places, some local shops convert their shop to a supermarket where everything is available, and people can pick items from the shelves and they can bill it by themselves. Some shops also provide phone call support, where people make a call to get the items delivered to their house. This way, they can serve the locals and still sustain in the market.
