This is some pictures of the road between Pakora and Askoli, in north Pakistan (Gilgit-Baltistan region).

It is a very dangerous road: there are many landslides every year, usually after monsonic rain in august, and some passages are very adrenaline-filled, with steep slopes over a impetuous river.

Here starting point: Pakora.

With its bridge:

This passage is located near Haiderabad:

Porters going to expedition:

Following pictures have been taken in summer 2005.

The road follows the river:

And this scene is very common: big rocks falling on the road, blocked it:

Despite the danger, this road is very busy in summer time: here you can see many porters going to Askoli (last village), where trekking and expedition start to K2m Baltoro valley and many other famous summits to climb:

Here we are near Moshin (it is the place and the village name). Yes, there are many villages along this way:

Again, a dangerous passage.

Sometimes people need to leave the jeep, reaching by walk the following piece of the road.

Every season the path could change:

Here the maps:

With my pakistani friend Haibat Lucky, we are working to take assistance to people living in these high village (along this road). The name of the foundation is 'Rise Hope Foundation'. We are looking for donors to buy stuff for orphan and poor children, improving their health and education.

With my photographic activity I'm hoping to get money, follow me on www.andreagabrieli.it!

We will soon open a web site dedicated to the foundation, to collect money!
