Prologue: Polyverse is a web3 browser-based shooter game. They are currently in Beta right now and there seems to be always something going on for community engagement and ways to earn $PATIC. Over the last month I have seen a bunch of info posted online that is either false, inaccurate, misleading or just lazy writing. Which is why I am writing this article to clear the air.

Everything in-game is a NFT

(okay well most everything, but I will get into that here)

Your Character is a NFT.
Your Weapons are NFT's.
Your Blueprints are NFT's.
Your Safebits are NFT's.
Your Boosters are NFT's.

What is not a NFT in-game is your resources (PVERSE, Wood, Water, Metal). Those items are not on-chain and as of right now there is no plans to make it on-chain. You obtain those resources after completely a run and how much you get depends on how many waves you survived and how many enemies you killed.

The game itself runs on the Ethereum Blockchain but also the WAX blockchain. What that means is that all the Character NFT's are minted on the Ethereum blockchain. You will need to stake your Character in order to play the game with it. Then when you start a new run you sign a transaction on the Ethereum blockchain but its not a full fledge transaction where you have to pay gas fees. Once your Character NFT is staked there should be zero gas fees after that to play.

When you complete a run and say you get a Legendary Blueprint (congrats), that Blueprint gets minted on the WAX blockchain immediately. Each Ethereum Character NFT is tied to a specific WAX account which holds all the NFT's for that Character.

What that also means is that if you end up selling a Character NFT, all the Blueprints, Weapons, etc that it has will be sold alongside the Character NFT.

In the roadmap for Polyverse there is a online marketplace where you can buy and sell NFT's. That includes the Characters themselves or individual items as well. You own the NFT's so you can level up and get good items and then sell them for a profit!

Each Race is Different and Unique

There are 5 races within the Polyverse Universe. (maybe 6 technically if we include "The Core" but we don't know enough about it to know for sure)

Ape

The Ape's are a race of Brutes. They are tough and mean and nasty up close and personal. They are geared towards a melee/defensive playstyle as they have increased stats for HP and Melee Damage. If you are accustomed to playing as a tank in other games than Apes are your best friend!

Alien

They are quick and sneaky. They are heavy hitters from afar and are light on HP. So if you are a sniper type player than Aliens are for you.

Human

Like in all games, the Humans get the shaft. They are just the common, boring, normal race with so-so stats.

Mutant

Run of the mill type race. They were Humans at one point and then modified themselves to get a tiny more HP but what they gained in Health they lost in Ranged Attack.

Cyborg

Here we have the 'tankiest' race in Polyverse. They have the highest HP but terrible speed and melee. They are designed to get in, hit hard and get out.

Tournaments (Monthly/Weekly/TBD)

This is still a little up in the air since the final game hasn't launched yet but as it stands currently there are 2 types of tournaments that will be ongoing.

Paid Weekly

This will require a fee (in PATIC) to enter and you grind to reach the top of the leaderboard to earn your share of the prize pool. This will not be for the faint of heart and only the strong will survive!

Free Monthly

These are more geared towards everyone to dip their feet in and see if they like it. No risk and little reward but still nice.

One Token "PATIC ($PTC)" to rule them ALL!

$PATIC is the token of Polyverse. Currently in Beta there is no use case for PATIC, but that doesn't mean there won't be. Far from it actually. PATIC is what you will need if you do NOT own a Genesis NFT and want to play the game.

Stake to Play

Very soon you will be able to stake 10,000 PATIC and you will receive a in-game character. That character will not have the same great stats of Genesis NFT's but it will do okay for starters.

When you play you level up your character as in a normal RPG. Well what happens if you max out your character that you staked 10,000 PATIC to get? Well you can choose to burn that 10,000 PATIC and receive the character as a NFT. Or you can withdraw your 10,000 PATIC and it will 'burn' the character you were playing with. You lose nothing to try it out!

NFT Economy

When the game finally launches and the secondary market kicks off you will need PATIC to purchase those NFT's. This will drive the need for PATIC and thus a thriving economy.

When you craft weapons from blueprints currently you use a in-game (non blockchain) token called PVERSE. But there are whispers that in the future you will need PATIC again to craft those items. So stockpiling PATIC is not a bad idea!

Character's and their Collections

Genesis

At the time of writing there is only the Genesis Character Collection. Which can be found here: https://opensea.io/collection/polyverse-genesis-official

These NFT's will always be the best Characters in the Polyverse world. And while there will be other characters down the road they will not compare to the original 888 NFT's.

We are not sure when this new collection will drop but it will drop at some point soon (I hope). They will be the 2nd best Characters in the game.

Staked

When you stake 10,000 PATIC in game you will get a character and they will be 'okay' but nothing special.

Main Game Launch

This needs some clarification. Technically the game has been launched on the Ethereum blockchain and it live RIGHT NOW! But that is a little misleading. While the game is live, we are currently only in the Beta Testing of the game. However this is 1 area where the Polyverse team has flipped the script and changed web3 gaming!

(This is my opinion based on everything I have read and heard from the team. What I am about to say has not been clearly and publicly stated as fact but I will show you WHY I am saying what I am saying. So this is subject to change but I highly doubt it.)

You can level up your character right now and it stays.

You can earn blueprints, safebits, boosters, etc right now and keep them!

The Future - After Main Game Launch

So what comes after? What is 'in the pipeline' for Polyverse and the Economy & Community?

There is a Animated Web Series!

There is a "Metaverse"!
