Grocery Day with Friends: A Day of Buying and Bonding🛍💸

Sunshine and smiles, Hivers! It's been a while since the last time I posted a blog. In this blog, I'm going to share with you all how I and my friends buy essentials for our laboratory in specialty cuisine. Let's get started!
Last month, our professor in specialty cuisine told us that we would be having the third laboratory for her subject. Each one of us has a different dish from the different places in America. I and Fhaneza partnered in making the Chicago-style pizza. This dish will need people to make since the ingredients for this pizza are quite expensive. After our last class in the afternoon, I and my friends decided to buy all the ingredients and essentials for this laboratory. As you can see, we are waiting beside the national road, waiting for a bus to pass by. At this time, we ride on the bus until we reach our destination. We decided to buy all the stuff at the mall since we need liquidation for costing, which means we need a receipt for all of the ingredients that we will buy.
We started first at the meat section. We decided to use ground beef instead of sausage because sausage is quite expensive here, and we only need a small portion, and their sausage can be bought in bulk. After that, we went to the dairy products to buy cheese and some dairy ingredients that we will use. I really love this area because I entertained looking at those types of cheese that are not quite popular in our place and also some dairy products that are rare to find here in our place, and only high-end malls have only this kind of product that is sold. Fhaneza got the butter, mozzarella, and other cheese because Chicago-style pizza has plenty of cheese, and we are searching for other cheese options for alternatives because some cheeses are quite expensive. We also saw some salami, prosciutto, different kinds of hams, and other cold meats that are used for charcuterie boards. This meat is rarely to be found here in our place, and I was fascinated that this mall that we went to has it.
After that, we went to the other sections of the grocery because we were still searching for the other ingredients that we would need for our dish. We also buy some pepperoni and some veggies to be added to our pizza. Fhaneza has some personal stuff, and Joshua keeps joking around. I also got some tissues and other essentials that will be used in our laboratory. We also went to some sections because we are searching for some goods to be worth buying for this day.
While strolling inside of the grocery store, I saw some dried mangoes, and it felt nostalgic because when I was a child, my father kept buying dried mangoes for me because that's my favorite snack. And before, the price of the dried mangoes was quite cheap. Now, these dried mangoes are very expensive, and they say some of the brands of these dried mangoes are not tasty and not even good. I have also seen the most expensive spice in the world, which is saffron. I was shocked because this spice is very rare to see here in our place, and when I see the price, the price of this saffron is quite affordable, which is very questionable because my professor told us that a gram of saffron costs a thousand in Philippine money. We decided to go to the cashier to pay for these goods since we needed to go to the second floor because Fhaneza wanted to buy some appliances.
As you can see in the picture, we are now on the second floor of the mall, and Fhaneza went to the air fryer section. She's been eyeing this air fryer since we still went here last time, and she wanted to buy this because she wanted to buy stuff that would remind her that this stuff was bought with her hard-earned money from working. I also went to the other appliances to inquire how much they are because my mother wanted to buy a rice cooker, an air conditioner, and an iron because all of the ones that we had are not working anymore. I also inquired about a mini oven because I wanted to bake these days, and I wanted to excel at my skills in baking.
As you can see in the picture, this is Fhaneza holding her air fryer that she bought. She was happy because she could use this in cooking their food, and at this time, she was waiting for the staff to wrap her air fryer that she bought. She got this air fryer for its affordable price. The staff tried the air fryer if it was working or not before wrapping it, and they told Fhaneza that they could replace the air fryer within 7 days if there was an issue, and it also had a 1-year warranty.
After that, we ride a pedicab because we want to go to Jollibee, and Khim and Joshua are there waiting for us to arrive. When we arrive at the Jollibee, we order our dinner and talk about what happened at the mall. They were shook because Fhaneza bought an air fryer and wanted to help Fhaneza bring the air fryer because it is quite heavy. After we ate, we decided to go home, and I was separated from them because we don't have the same route to go home.
And this is the end of my blog, Hivers! This day is quite fun but exhausting because, as a hospitality student, it is quite pocket-draining because we have lots of laboratory work that needs to spend a big sum of money. I was thankful to my friends for helping me to be frugal and find ways to be cheap. Thank you for reading my blog, Hivers! And maybe in my next blog, I'm going to talk about how we made the Chicago-style pizza for our laboratory compliance. Thank you, and have a nice day, Hivers!
