Missing Anjo World Theme Park : A Rainy Day That Feels Like Magic

Before we reached the theme park, we crossed the CCLEX Bridge the longest bridge in the Philippines. It stretched endlessly over the sea connecting Cebu City to the southern towns. As we drove across, I looked out the window in awe. The water below shimmered like silver, and the vast sky looked endless as if heaven and earth met at the horizon. It was so peaceful and breathtaking, a moment of quiet beauty that made me feel both small and grateful.

When we finally arrived at Anjo World, I couldn’t believe in my entire eyes. Even under the rain, the place looked alive. The colorful lights reflected on the wet pavement, the cheerful music played through the speakers and laughter filled the air. It was as if the whole park was saying, “Rain or shine, joy must go on!”

We hurried to pay the entrance fee, excited to start the adventure. As soon as we walked in, a couple approached to me and asked if I could take their photo. They stood close together, smiling despite the rain. I took the photo and when they saw it, they both laughed a kind of laugh that was full of love. I couldn’t help but smile, too. In that moment, I realized something: even in rainy days it can be romantic if your heart is warm.

Since the weather wasn’t great, we decided to try only the rides that had roofs or were safe in the rain. We started with the Golden Carousel, then tried the London Taxi, and finally the Ferris Wheel.

The Golden Carousel was pure joy. The horses went up and down, the lights twinkled, and music played in the background. The floor was slippery from the rain, but it didn’t matter. I was laughing the whole time.

Next was the London Taxi ride. It moved slowly, but I loved hearing the raindrops tapping on the roof. It felt cozy inside, like being in a small, moving shelter where time slowed down.

But my favorite part of the day was the Ferris Wheel. As we rose higher and higher, I pressed my face against the glass and looked out. The rain was softer now, just tiny drops tracing down the windows. From up there, the city looked like a painting glowing lights, shiny streets, and tiny people moving below. The world felt calm. I felt calm. It was one of those rare moments where everything felt perfect, even if the weather wasn’t.
After the rides, I treated myself to cotton candy. The bright pink fluff melted quickly in the rain, but I didn’t mind. It tasted sweet and nostalgic, like a small piece of my childhood melting on my tongue. I stood there, holding what was left of it, smiling at how silly but happy I felt. That day reminded me that not every perfect memory needs a perfect sky.

Sometimes, the rain makes everything more special the laughter, the lights, the moments that warm your heart. It’s funny how a little drizzle could turn into something so magical. Even now, when I think of that August day at Anjo World, I don’t remember the rain as something that ruined the fun. I remember it as the thing that made everything shine brighter the lights, the smiles, and the feeling of being truly alive.
Because sometimes, the best memories come from the days that aren’t perfect.
