Crops that I'd mostly forgotten about or given up on this intense-drought summer in south Italy...

Today I lunched on olives from a big jar of last year's harvest - first time I ever treated and stored olives, and I have enough for years! They were in my pasta alongside greens from the wild - a kind of giant spinach or bietole. Glorious.

The potatoes were a few more than I thought, from a couple of seed potatoes flung into pots midsummer... Enough for a beautiful potato stew or shepherd's pie: favourite dishes that I miss from Scotland.

I didn't anticipate any of these crops; they all came to me without the 'contract' of hard graft or unpleasurable straining....

This is a hugely joy-full aspect of Living In Gift - the unexpected boon of Nature calling us down to Gift us nutriment, as and when we need it.

I can be at peace with what conventional 'life' might lable 'poverty', because I'm fully present in these riches, fully grateful for them, and giving back to Nature appropriately.

Blessings and Love,
:Clare
