You cannot contain what you are 💪

Today I am excited to finally get to talk about the sequel to one of my favorite thrillers ever called Split. Glass is the continuation of M. Night Shyamalan's story surrounding Kevin Michael Crumb (James McAvoy) and his 24 unique personalities. This time there are two more faces that you will recognize to compliment McAvoy's impressive ability to portray so many different characters in one film. We have Bruce Willis as David Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price aka Mr. Glass.

Upon doing some research about Glass and Split, I've found out that they are linked to an older film called Unbreakable which explains how Mr. Glass and Dunn have a past together. I need to go back and watch that one to complete The Eastrail 177 Trilogy – also known as The Unbreakable Trilogy. For now, we will focus on discussing Glass.

The movie begins with David Dunn going on frequent walks where he acts as a vigilante. His son is connected to him via an earpiece and they work together to track down bad guys. David has some unique abilities which make him pretty much invincible against the average criminal. He is on the hunt for somebody who is kidnapping girls.

If you know anything about Kevin Michael Crumb, then you know that he is no stranger to female hostages for his 24 personalities to toy with. This means that David is searching for Kevin. Neither one of them realizes that there are others that possess superpower-like abilities.

David manages to track down the girls and frees them just as Kevin's 24th personality The Beast arrives to kill them. This leads The Beast and David to have a battle with each other. Nobody seems to be coming out as the winner, it is a fierce fight.

Things are halted abruptly as the police arrive and find a way to stop The Beast with their bright lights, which switches his personality. David is not a villain, so he stops fighting right away. David's son is devastated by the fact that his dad is going to be locked up, even though what they were doing was good in their eyes.

David and Kevin are brought to the psych ward where we meet Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson). She informs them that they will be locked down and have no chance of escape.

This is where we find that Elijah Price is also being held captive at this same institution. Dr. Staple is deadset on convincing all three men that they are not superheroes. She is very crafty and knows how to break down the minds of the two newest captives. Elijah has no response to anything that happens.

I mentioned that lights are The Beast's weakness and his room is set up to flash him anytime that he gets aggressive. David's weakness is water and he is sprayed down by powerful jets anytime that he gets aggressive. Elijah is simply kept drugged up since his ability is his powerful mind.

My favorite part of all of this isn't even the superpowers, it is how well McAvoy executes his many personalities. Each one is so distinct from the others. It never gets old watching him switch from a young boy to an older woman and then to all sorts of other different types of people. It really is a sight to behold when one actor can be so many people.

Elijah Price is drugged up and silent, but eventually reveals that he is smarter than he seems. This guy is miles beyond everyone else when it comes to intelligence. He is a puppet master of sorts and can make seemingly impossible things a reality.

Elijah Price prefers to be called Mr. Glass. Once he comes to life, he is able to convince The Beast himself to fight David in public. The Beast wants the world to worship him and people who have done wrong to suffer and pay for their sins. Mr. Glass easily comes up with a way to get them on the same side.

Mr. Glass leaves David in his cell but tells him about their evil plan for destruction. David is forced to push his powers to the limit and break out to save people from Mr. Glass and The Beast. The plot gets extra insane at this point, suspense just keeps piling up.

The final battle between The Beast and David Dunn is an incredible showcase of power. Both men showcase just what they are capable of and Mr. Glass watches proudly as his plan unfolds.

The ending to this trilogy will leave you surprised and I will not spoil it for you. There is so much to this plot and it will hit you with curveball after curveball. I love when a movie keeps me guessing and this one surely does. Plus the added fact that superpowers and the real world collide just makes it even more enjoyable.

I highly recommend both Glass and Split. I assume that Unbreakable is great as well, but like I said I still need to go back and watch that. I will close this post out with the trailer for Glass. If you haven't seen any of this trilogy, then I think that you should watch them in order if you can.
