Hello There

Welcome to my Splinterlands post, I write this regularly during my weekends. As for today post, I will share a battle that I have got from my rank battle. It is a simple battle but for me it is interesting because there are alot I can learn from that battle.

This is the battle. I like this battle because my opponent's team and my team are on equal level. None of us are stronger in term of level, well they are slightly better but it is not something that significant.

The ruleset is interesting too. 49 mana cap, it is big not something that gigantic. We can not put many monstrous mana cap in there, but enough to put in some big guys in. The ruleset makes an interesting combination, a blast with shield.

In general I believe most of us will try to exploit the blast abilities from Explosive Weaponry. The shield abilities from Thick Skinned ruleset will be additional bonuses.

The most interesting about this battle is that My Opponent and I are trying to exploit the ruleset through different approaches. So rather than saying I am better or he is worse because he loses, I see both of us have valid approaches and let's talk about it here.

What We Learn From Round 2

Ok here is the funny thing, why should we learn something from the round 2? The answer is simple, because we have explosive ruleset here, and most of the time, on the round 2 we already see both side struggle from getting high damage.

However this is not the case for this battle , both of us haven't lost any unit from the first round. It means our defense are great, both not only me.

Why defense not offense? because both of us use similar attack meta. We rely on big hitter and strong range units. To support it we have a few magic units. The distinctive traits lay in defense.

How Their Team Defend

They use the recent fire summoner

It add 2 armors to all units and this boost up the shield effect. Physical attack become heavily guarded and that made me difficult to hurt their units.

The dwarfs there has that void abiltiies given by the Fithe Bladestone. This causes my blast damage from magic attack getting heavily nerf. 1 blast damage from magic attack will be nulled.

Only by this summoner, my team is struggling to kill all their units.

How My team Defend

I use Zeddica, non skilled summoner. She doesn't give any abilities or buff/debuff, so I have to bring some units for building up the meta and those buff. I use 4 units on my backline to do that.

The first two units in front are my tanks, they rely heavily with their high armor. So first thing first, I need to replenish their depleted armor, and it will be the duty of Tidal Tsunamist. She has that repair ability and that will be the first defensive trait I set for this team.

The second trait will be tank heal and Lookout ability. I need lookout incase my opponent has a unit with sneak or snipe ability, including an opportunity attack. Lookout will be greatly helpful

That's where Anasth Soothsayer plays great part. She is a complete package of what a support unit should be.

The last one was speed adjustment. I have Silverleaf Warlock with his swiftness ability and Meriput Slinger with his Slow ability. That's a +1 speed and -1 speed debuff for all opponent, so you can say I am trying to create +2 speed gap.

THE RESULT

The result is simple, a total domination from my side. The battle ends on round 5 with all my squad are alive. None of us die nor mortally wounded, so I manage my team successfully.

5 round during the explosive weaponry and none of us die. It means my defensive wall perform extraordinary, and so does my opponent meta.

I do not say my opponent outclassed here, I prefer to say their defensive meta works well too. For a team without a healer or repairer, they can last until 5 rounds is already awesome. Look at my team:

  1. Commander Slade 4 Melee damage, and Tidal Tsunamist 3 melee damage = 7 melee damage.
  2. 4 range damage from Meriput Slinger.
  3. 3 mages build up 6 magic damage per round.

My total fire power is 17 damage per round. They manage to hold up those damage with the blast effect for 4 rounds is what I say rather than saying I am great, they are very good too.

I learn a lot from this battle, because it showcased both of us developing a very good defense regardless who comes out as the winner. So what do you think about this battle?
