The Versatility Of ECW's Quintessential Stud Muffin Joel Gertner
0 comments
Many ECW fans still laugh to this day from the various "poems" which Joel Gertner would do during his time managing the Dudley Boyz, his TV show introductions in the ring with Joey Styles, and the one-liners on commentary for ECW on TNN. The above video (definitely NOT safe for work!!) features some of his most memorable "Gertner-isms"!
However, many wrestling fans don't realize how versatile he was during his time in ECW. This post on Twitter/X from his official account shows what a wide range he offered the company:

This video from WWE's official YouTube channel shows Gertner doing the ring introductions in Spanish for the ECW Arena match between Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Psicosis:
If anyone has a clip of him doing ring introductions in Japan and/or while speaking Japanese for a match in the United States then please share via a reply or private message.
He also forgot to include a mention that he had two official matches in ECW: against The Blue Meanie at a house show and against Cyrus on pay per view. The match against Cyrus, interestingly, is the last actual match ever shown on the ECW on TNN television series;
Finally, Gertner is one of the few ECW roster members to ever have taken these following moves:
- Balcony dive from New Jack
- Total Elimination from The Eliminators (Saturn and Kronus)
- Balls Mahoney chair shot
- Kendo stick (Singapore Cane) hits from The Sandman
- Arm submission finishing move from CW Anderson
- Several other moves well0known to ECW fans
Here is a low-quality clip found on YouTube of Gertner taking the balcony dive from New Jack:
