Sunday ride and my weekly cycling stats (week 26)
I'm trying to do a weekly update of my cycling stats. This not only brings some activity in the Cycling Community, but also makes me check out the progress of my goals on a weekly basis to see how I'm doing.
Week 26
Last week it was quite warm in The Netherlands, but not as hot as it is this week. I've been commuting three days which is just over 16 kilometers one way. On monday there I had to make a detour which resulted in some extra kilometers. Normally I make a large tour on Saturdays with some friends, but because it was my birthday, I couldn't go this week.
I did buy myself a nice and useful gift for my birthday; a new bib shorts.
I have a few of them, but some of them are really old. The sponge isn't that good anymore, so I could use another one. This one is a really good one which I will (probably only use for longer rides.
I tested it on my sunday ride and I must say I could really notice the difference in quality.
So here are the stats of last week. The total distance I covered is 141.57 kilometers in nearly 6 hours on the bicycle. That helped me burn 3.377 calories.
Yealy goals
When we look at the yearly goals I'm still a bit behind on schedule (due to a long injury I had), but I've been gaining a lot of kilometers lately. While we are over 50% of the year already I managed to complete 40% of my goal. I will really try to reach the 5k by the end of the year.
Sunday ride
Sunday was the start of the heatwave. It was quite hot during the day and I waited fairly long before I started my ride. It was already 8:30 PM before I left. During these long summer nights it stays light until 10:30 PM, so I could definitely still go for a ride.
I created a short video of the ride. The first part I cycled along a canal. It is a road that is used both by cars and cyclists. The cyclists have their own area on the road which is marked in red asphalt. In the second part of the video I'm cycling past some greenhouses. We have a lot of them in our area. They are used to grow fruits, vegetables and flowers.
And you also see me cycling past one of the many windmills in the area.
It was a nice ride and I'm nicely on track to catch up on the delay in reaching my yearly goal.
Do you have any cycling goals for 2025?
Let me know in the comments!
