Stretching Our Legs and Our Views: 6KM Walk at Jumeirah Beach
16 comments

My husband and I went to Jumeirah Beach for a walk, something simple yet meaningful, especially since it was also part of his company’s step challenge. From the start, I’ve been cheering him on, he’s capable of hitting up to 40,000 steps in a day, while I usually aim for 20,000. For this walk we framed a shorter 6K step, but it was full of simple glees and discoveries.

We were happy to find a parking slot right away which was a blessing given the weekend crowd. I swirled out of the car, excited to start our walk, but quickly realized my husband was not right behind me. He was still at the parking machine. He wanted to make sure we paid first to keep away from fines. While waiting I took some photos, capturing the lively atmosphere around us.

We began our walk with an instant selfie before agreeing to focus on the path ahead. My husband told me that he would walk at his own pace. He will just wait for me at the endpoint. An excellent arrangement that allowed me to slow down and I could enjoy the environs and take more photos. The weather in Dubai has become cooler, showing the end of the fiery summer. With disco music in my earphones I felt revived and utterly soaked in the walk. The green alley was pattern for walkers while the wooden path was for cyclists. The view of Jumeirah Beach unfolded continuously to our right, golden sand meeting calm waves, creating a perfect backdrop for our stroll. I saw modern beachside promenades where visitors could pause to relax. As well as dedicated bike and scooter parking areas.

One feature that immediately caught my eye was a large metallic silhouette of a person in a running pose. A striking artistic touch that added charm to the area. Restaurants scattered along the route tempting passersby with delicious aromas. The sky darkened slowly but I kept walking, photographing the scenes around me. The place was alive with activity, some people were jogging and others were doing push-ups. Some groups played pickleball and volleyball in sporty corners of the promenade.

As I moved farther, a lively spread loaded with food courts and colorful food carts on each side. The inviting scent of street food fused with the zesty sea air energizes the ambiance. The lively lights gird the space reflected off the walkways. It gave a jolly ambiance for walkers, joggers and everyone grooving the evening. The merge of food, movement and glowing lights made the promenade feel alive, turning a simple walk into a delightful sensory experience.

A mosque along the way drew my attention. Its stylish shape stood gracefully against the evening sky, while the soft call to prayer echoed gently across the beach. The serene sound set off alluringly with the lively walkers, joggers and playful chatter around me. It adds a calm reflective layer to the bustling promenade.

I also noticed rows of electric scooters available for rent via a smartphone app, a modern convenience that fits the area perfectly.

When I hit the endpoint I found my husband busy doing exercises. A sneer on his face from finishing his walk. We walked back closely loving the final moments of the evening. We agreed to have dinner at a near restaurant. We ordered chicken and beef shawarma with fries, a simple yet satisfying way to end our walk. Even the restaurant surprised me with its unique handwash area. A row of metal pots mounted on the wall serves as dispensers and creates a clever blend of style and function.
Our 6KM walk at Jumeirah Beach was more than just exercise. It was a mix of motion, sighting and small joys. A reminder that sometimes the wander is just as beautiful as the destination.
