Not from Today - 21st of October

This will be an irregular series of posts - in these posts I'm going to look back into my archive to see what photos I took this day in previous years

This 'Not from Today' but it is from the 21st of October, let's work backwards becuase generally my photography gets better

2019 - Okay so this isn't so much as my photogrepahy being good as Smug - who is the street artist here being very very good - this is in Melbourne, on the side of an old powerstation.

2017 - This is taken at the back of an old warehouse in Kensington in Melbourne, back then it had a few artist studios in it and a lot of abandonded spaces that you thought - this would be cool. since then it's been turned into cool funky offices for creative types, I imagine the actual creative people have been pushed out.

2016 - Well I appear to be in Yokohama in Japan, I actually remember this day really clearly, we had a single day in Yokohama, largely we were there to go to amazing bar called Trash Zone, but we spent the day wandering around the waterfront seeing all the things Japan has to offer, and I cannot believe I haven't been there for almost ten years.

2015 - This is from a time I had a blog called '12 years gone' where I revisited photos taken on that day 12 years ago (which in itself as you will see earlier was a photo journal process) here is what I wrote on that day (FYI We are back in Melbourne, I was clearly seeing a play at this theatre)

“They will not look up from their screens for long enough to notice.” the prophecy from the stage as the man covertly sneaks a look at his mobile phone held low on his hip so as to not disturb others."

2014 - Bologna Italy, and again is in the time of the blog so here are the thoughts from that day - I know what I'm taking about, it's a day sitting with a girl I was deeply in love with on the steps of the post office in Melbourne, back when those sorts of things were magical.

*That day is still so vivid in my mind.

Grand final day, sitting on the post office steps overlooking the closest thing that Melbourne had to a piazza at the time, watching the people going by.*

Nineteen years later and 10,000 miles away find myself doing the very same thing.

**2004 **- Then nothing for 10 years, until this - taken at Arthur's seat just out of Melbourne, likely it was a weekend away with another girl, not the one from the post office steps, not the one from Fiji and not the one which was in Japan, Italy and Melbourne with me who is the real love of my life.

**2003 **- the original Photo Blog concept, firstly look at the 'grain' from my 1.3 megapixel camera, This is in Aspendale in Melbourne, just near my house at the time, and here is the awful joke I wrote that day...

Kind of makes you wonder when he arrived-y

**2002 **- Way back in time, I'm in Fiji with my on again off again girlfriend at the time. As Jonathon Richman would say 'After that trip to Bermuda that band never got along again' if you replace Bermuda with Fiji and Band with couple, we broke up straight after we got back - anyway this is a lizard and a lizard park, because that's a thing
