Story&Summary

The book starts by the entry of Awama to Fujimigaoka High School. He used to represent the country in the under 16 team hence his entry at the school evokes the entire school. Everyone is awed by his ability to play and his good looks but no one is ready to expect that he is a clean freak. Awama hates sweat dust touch anything. That literally is nearly unattainable with a game such as football. Awama however plays football his way. He plays an extremely clean game because he does not touch the ball. When a person attempts to attack him he avoids the attack in a way that it appears like he is dancing.

This is why at first a great part of the school football team dislikes him regarding him as an arrogant person. The development of the story consists of a number of small episodes. In every episode there is a funny affair regarding the cleanliness of Awama. On the one hand he gets into trouble because of his cleanliness during the school festival sometimes and on the other hand he mixes up a hilarious moment during cleaning of a garbage can.

Awama is surrounded by a team. His best friend is Kai Tomoki the one who knows Awama, and is always with him. Moka is a girl who is in love secretly with Awama and watches on his every step. Uhara a fat kid who uses the football club competition to join is another character. During one of the special episodes it is observed that the other team is aware of the fact that Awama is clean freak and they purposefully mess the field up so that Awama is forced to play. However Awama defeats them on the game of psychology and pockets the team.

There is a position in the plot when certain elements of Awma past come to the surface. It is known that people used to laugh at him because of his cleanliness and he never altered his routine. Aoyama is followed by Moka Goto who is his secret lover that admires his hygiene and even takes photographs of him without his knowledge. Different funny characters are also present making this series to become more colored. Its comedy is definitely the tagging point of this anime. Every episode is filled with situations of all sorts of strangeness and fun which will make the viewer laugh once again and again. One such example is the ritual of the shower which Awama follows the need of keeping his jersey fresh when he plays and the way he counter-attacks by trying to stay clean besides his opponent who is dirty all seem to give a comic turn. Animation style is rather simple and the timing of jokes and expression of characters is presented well. Football match scenes look very attractive though not very realistic.

The anime contains a very significant message behind it which is love and acceptance of oneself. Aoyama does not conceal his phobia of hygiene and does not make any attempt to alter it. On the contrary he draws strength in his weaknesses. It helps us to understand that notwithstanding the sterility of the society preserving her or his personality will be the ultimate security of self respect. The themes of friendship self improvement acceptance and teamwork are also rendered perfectly well. The other team members know Aoyama with the passage of time and they accept him even though his behavior is strange. The concept of the anime is excellent but the narrative usually seems two dimensional. The backstories or a pairing of some of the characters are too short.
