Monday Blessing: Another Harvest of Squash from Our Farm, a Reminder of Hard Work, Patience, and Family Blessings

Life, like the farm, grows slowly, but every effort brings its own harvest. Good day, my fellow gardeners!

We have another harvest of squash, so I thank the Lord for His blessings. Every seed we plant, every fruit we take care of, and every harvest we gather is a reminder that dedication and hard work always bring rewards. That’s why I am always grateful to the Lord for all the blessings that come from our farm, whether the harvest is small or abundant, because He is the one who gives good fruits and a bountiful yield from our plants. It is proof that patience and perseverance truly bear good results.

My nephews always spend their school break helping on the farm. When there are no classes, they don’t waste their time just going out or playing around. Instead, they choose to help with the work here. I always remind them to study hard so they can reach their goals in life. I’m proud of them because they are growing up responsible and hardworking.

Because they are hardworking, I give them some allowance for school to make them happy. Sometimes I also take them out to eat wherever they like. All my nephews don’t have any bad habits, and that really makes me proud of them.

They enjoy working on the farm, especially during harvest time. It’s also a big help for us because we don’t need to pay other people to carry the squash. If you look around, there’s a lot of grass in the field, but we don’t remove it anymore since we’re almost done harvesting. After all the fruits are gone, we will clean the area and prepare it for the next planting.

While some were harvesting, the others were carrying the squash to make the work faster. The squash are really heavy, so I sometimes feel sorry for my nephews. We hurried with the harvest because the weather was starting to change again. A typhoon was coming, so we started early to finish before the rain.

You might notice that the fruits are smaller now because these are the ones left from the earlier harvests. Their skin is not smooth anymore since they stayed too long in the wet soil because of the rain. But when you peel them, the flesh inside is still good with no damage. It’s still delicious, especially when cooked in coconut milk with string beans and crab that’s really perfect with unlimited rice! Right now, the price is lower compared to before.

It’s really heartwarming to see, even when there’s still a lot of harvest left. The squash that we have cared for over the past few months finally shows the results of our patience and hard work. The money we earn from selling them can be used again to buy fertilizer and sprays for our other plants.

After the harvest, we loaded the squash onto the truck to take home. Some were left in the field, and my sibling will go back for them since they are the one carrying the rest. The money we earn from selling them can be used again to buy fertilizer and sprays for our other plants.
Thanks for visiting my blog! I appreciate your support and hope you enjoyed following our harvest journey. That’s the end of my story, and all pictures are my own, edited in Canva.
