I had this movie on my to-do list, I really didn't want to see it, my expectations were extremely low.

Birds of Prey is an entertaining superhero movie, better than the suicide squad movie, where everything was wrong, terrible, featuring the worst Joker in the history of cinema. The best thing about Suicide Squad was Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Harley Quinn is the queen of the city, nobody dares to do anything against her, because she is the Joker's girl. But all that changes, when the villain breaks up the relationship. Now everyone who hates her wants to kill her, including Black Mask. Harley makes a deal with that evil man, to find a thieving girl who has a jewel that belongs to him. In this adventure, he will meet Black Canary, Hunter and Renée Montoya, the future heroes who will make up the Birds of Prey.

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment saw the potential of exploiting the franchise with this character, planning an independent film so that Margot, also the producer of the film, would be the one to steal the show as the joker's girlfriend, who is now alone, after the villain decides to end his love affair.

To shape the project, they used the Birds of Prey, a group of superheroes that DC published its first comic book in 2002. This film is the birth of this group of superhero girls on the big screen. The masterminds who make the great Hollywood productions had the "brilliant" idea of calling it "Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn." A title so bad they had to change it, but after months of promotion, the damage was done.

They wanted to emphasize Harley Quinn's emancipation in the title of the film, aligning themselves with today's feminist movements and the politically correct environment. The strategy was not as perfect as the executives had hoped.

Birds of Prey is a feminist film, the protagonists are the superhero girls, the villains are very bad men. The discourse that they must be strong, make their own decisions and stop depending on what the oppressive boss says, is present throughout the film. But this is, at the same time, a great contradiction.

Seeing rough girls fighting, is very sexy for the male audience, besides, the main attraction of the film is Harley Quinn, played by a super beautiful and sexy actress. Harley Quinn's wardrobe is very eye-catching for men. Therefore, it sells a feminist film, using sexy elements to do it. Do you understand the contradiction?

The bad guys... very bad

Birds of prey have a crazy, fast pace. It's the opposite of the Suicide Squad. It's also excessive, which makes it fun. I had a great time watching it. Lots of action scenes, violence and crazy Harley Quinn stuff.

Harley is the superstar of the movie. Margot Robbie has a lot of fun with this character. That's what she conveys in each scene, a very comical style, which is complemented by the film's colorful photography.

The other actresses Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett, Rosie Perez and Ella Jay Basco each have their own moments, but are always overshadowed by Robbie's presence. Ewan McGregor plays Roman Sionis, the black mask, the great villain of the day. He is accompanied by the actor Chris Messina, as Victor Zsasz, the Black Mask's confidant and also very bad. These villains are so evil that they provoke laughter.

That's the weakest part of the film, the lack of a villain who causes fear with his presence.

There are a lot of bad reviews of this film, I think it's an exaggeration of the "haters". You have to enjoy it for what it is, cinema to eat popcorn, while watching beautiful women superheroes, breaking the faces of very bad men.

A guilty pleasure...
