EVERYTHING, your status, your chances in life, everything, EVERYTHING, depends on how pro you are at magic. And in the middle of it all is the Regarden Magic Academy, which is like a Hogwarts, but with its own thing, you understand? Well, and in this place where even the air has magic, they put our protagonist, Will Serfort... here, here is where something already classic is presented, the protagonist has no magical ability, he can't use magic. NOTHING. Zero.

I mean, in a world where being a magician is the law, he's a zero, a "useless" guy, as his classmates call him... you can imagine, some first-rate believers, and on top of that, there's this whole issue of discrimination, but in a fantasy world, and Will, my friends, Will is one of those protagonists that you really want to win, to do well, you know? The guy doesn't just cry in a corner because he doesn't have magic, no way! On the contrary, the guy is a beast, he has enormous strength, incredible speed and with the sword he is a genius, a total strategist, it is as if he were saying: "Oh, really? They don't give me magic? Well, I don't care! I'm going to destroy them all with pure willpower and sword slashes".. and his motivation, people, he doesn't do it just because, he has a super personal reason: a promise he made to his childhood friend, Alaria —who by the way, is a magical genius— that together they would reach the top, to become a Maji Vander, who are like the elite guardians of that world. And that promise is his driving force, you can feel it in everything he does... you manage to get excited when the guy achieves something, it's that it's impossible not to want him to win.

Hola a todos, querida comunidad de The Anime Realm, espero que estén super bien, hoy les quiero compartir mis opiniones sobre un anime curioso.. que tarde en ver, pero no me arrepiento, hoy me toca hablar un poco de: Wistoria: Wand and Sword, pensé que iba a ser la típica fantasía de siempre, una más para la lista, pero me equivoqué un poco, me enganchó desde el primer capítulo.. a ver, imagínense esto: un mundo donde la magia lo es... TODO, tu estatus, tus chances en la vida, todo, TODO, depende de qué tan pro seas para la magia. Y en medio de todo está la Academia Mágica de Regarden, que es como un Hogwarts, pero con su propio rollo, ¿me entienden? Bueno, y en este lugar donde hasta el aire tiene magia, nos meten a nuestro prota, Will Serfort.. acá, acá es donde se presenta algo ya clásico, el prota no tiene nada de habilidad mágica, no puede usar magia. NADA. Cero.

O sea, en un mundo donde ser mago es la ley, él es un cero a la izquierda, un "inútil", como le dicen sus compañeritos... ya se imaginarán, unos creídos de primera, encima toca todo este tema de la discriminación, pero en un mundo de fantasía, y Will, amigos, Will es de esos protas que de verdad quieres que gane, que le vaya bien, ¿saben? El tipo no se pone a llorar en un rincón porque no tiene magia, ¡qué va! Al contrario, el tipo es una bestia, tiene una fuerza descomunal, una velocidad increíble y con la espada es un genio, un estratega total, es como si dijera: "¿Ah, sí? ¿No me dan magia? ¡Pues me vale! Los voy a reventar a todos a pura fuerza de voluntad y espadazos".. y su motivación, gente, no lo hace porque sí, tiene una razón súper personal: una promesa que le hizo a su amiga de la infancia, Alaria —que por cierto, ella sí es un genio de la magia— de que juntos llegarían a lo más alto, a ser un Maji Vander, que son como los guardianes de élite de ese mundo. Y esa promesa es su motor, se siente en cada cosa que hace.. logras emocionarte cuando el tipo lograba algo, es que es imposible no querer que gane.

And now, can we talk about the FIGHTS? Because, my God, the action scenes in Wistoria are next level, totally crazy. This is where Will’s condition of not having magic really explodes, seeing how he stands up to wizards who underestimate him, who look down on him, and suddenly seeing how he destroys them with pure skill, with pure brainpower and with brutal strategy… it’s a delight, people. The series mixes his physical strength with the magic of his rivals incredibly well, it’s not just that the guy hits hard, it’s that he uses his brain to get out of seemingly impossible troubles, there were times when I was thinking “and now how the hell is he going to get out of this?”, and suddenly he pulls out some incredible move and it was great to watch.

And since we're talking about spectacle, the animation and everything visual is a gem... the anime looks BEAUTIFUL, the direction seems like a movie, it has a level of detail that makes the world feel super alive... you can tell that they put a lot of love and effort into every frame, although I must admit that there are some times where the quality drops a bit, but mostly it's great, especially in more fights. The character designs are great, the backgrounds are spectacular and the fights are super fluid, the choreography is ten... the handling of the camera in the combats is excellent, it makes every hit, every clash, feel dynamic and powerful... and pay attention to this fact, which I found out later: in the production team there are people who worked on series like Black Clover and DanMachi, and the one who does the music is the same one from My Hero Academia! And the truth is, it shows, you can notice the hand of those people, the quality is there…

Y ahora, ¿podemos hablar de las PELEAS? Porque, ¡Dios mío!, las escenas de acción en Wistoria son otro nivel, una locura total.. es que acá es donde la condición de Will, la de no tener magia, de verdad explota, ver cómo se para frente a magos que lo subestiman, que lo miran por encima del hombro, y de repente ver cómo los destroza con pura habilidad, con pura cabeza y con una estrategia brutal… es una delicia, gente.. La serie mezcla increíblemente bien su fuerza física con la magia de sus rivales, no es solo que el tipo pegue duro, es que usa la cabeza para salir de líos que parecen imposibles, hubo momentos en los que estaba pensando "¿y ahora cómo carajo va a salir de esta?", y de repente se sacaba un movimiento increíble y era genial de ver.

Y ya que hablamos de espectáculo, la animación y todo lo visual es una joya.. el anime se ve HERMOSO, la dirección parece de película, tiene un nivel de detalle que hace que el mundo se sienta súper vivo.. se nota que le metieron un cariño y un esfuerzo brutal a cada cuadro, aunque debo admitir que hay algunas veces donde la calidad baja un poco, pero mayormente está genial, más que todo en más peleas. Los diseños de los personajes están buenísimos, los fondos son espectaculares y las peleas, son súper fluidas, las coreografías están de diez.. el manejo de la cámara en los combates es excelente, hace que cada golpe, cada choque, se sienta dinámico y potente.. y ojo a este dato, que me enteré después: en el equipo de producción hay gente que trabajó en series como Black Clover y DanMachi, ¡y el que hace la música es el mismo de My Hero Academia! Y la verdad, se nota, se nota la mano de esa gente, la calidad está ahí..

The world itself is also very cool, I mean, yeah, the magical academy vibe gives you very Harry Potter vibes, with the whole school structure, the festivals, and all that... but it doesn't stop there, it's not a simple copy, they slowly let loose with a much bigger story, with the threat of ancient invaders called the Celestial Hosts, and the existence of these elite wizards, the Maji Vander, who are the ones who protect everything. They even throw in other races like elves and dwarves, and there's a detail here that I thought was great: dwarves are also looked down on because they can't use magic, just like Will... that gives another dimension to the theme of discrimination and makes our protagonist's struggle feel that much more important in the grand scheme of things. It's those little details that make the world feel complete, that make it feel alive, and not just a generic fantasy setting... sure, a good protagonist and a great world are important, but what about the supporting characters?

Well, let me tell you, the people around Will are mostly interesting. You have the typical bigwigs from the beginning, obviously, like Julius and Shion. Shion, in particular, reminded me a lot of Bakugo from My Hero Academia: he's pure anger, pure screaming, but you realize that there's something more there, although his attitude can be tiring and annoying. But the other characters do present a good evolution and development around Will... they see his perseverance, they see that the guy refuses to give up despite his "disadvantage", and little by little you see them change their minds, some even come to admire him, it's an arc that's very nice to see... and the female characters!

This was an incredible surprise. Alaria, Colette —who supports Will from the beginning— and Lyanna —a super-skilled noble mage— are not just the love interest of the moment or the girl who needs rescuing, they are magicians in their own right, with their own goals and their own strengths. Overall, the cast is much better than other similar shows, and they have a great chemistry as a group. I ended up being hooked on what was happening to them too, not just what was happening to Will.

El mundo en sí también está muy bueno, a ver, sí, el ambiente de la academia mágica te tira unas vibras muy a lo Harry Potter, con toda la estructura de la escuela, los festivales y esas cosas.. pero no se queda ahí, no es una simple copia, te van soltando de a poco una historia mucho más grande, con una amenaza de unos invasores antiguos que llaman los Anfitriones Celestiales, y la existencia de estos magos de élite, los Maji Vander, que son los que protegen todo. Incluso meten otras razas como elfos y enanos, y acá hay un detalle que me pareció genial: a los enanos también los hacen de menos porque no pueden usar magia, exactamente como a Will.. eso le da otra dimensión al tema de la discriminación y hace que la lucha de nuestro prota se sienta mucho más importante en el gran esquema de las cosas. Son esos pequeños detalles los que hacen que el mundo se sienta completo, que se sienta vivo, y no solo un escenario de fantasía genérico.. claro, un buen prota y un mundo genial son importantes, pero ¿y los personajes secundarios?

Bueno, déjenme decirles que la gente que rodea a Will, en su mayoría, es interesante, tienes a los típicos agrandados del principio, obvio, como Julius y Shion. Shion, en particular, me recordó muchísimo a Bakugo de My Hero Academia: es pura bronca, puro grito, pero te das cuenta de que hay algo más ahí, aunque si puede cansar y molestar su actitud, pero los otros personajes si presentan una buena evolución y desarrollo en torno a Will.. ven su perseverancia, ven que el tipo se niega a rendirse a pesar de su "desventaja", y de a poco los ves cambiar de opinión, algunos incluso llegan a admirarlo, es un arco que da mucho gusto ver.. y los personajes femeninos! Esto fue una sorpresa increíble.

Alaria, Colette —que apoya a Will desde el principio— y Lyanna —una maga noble súper hábil— no son solo el interés amoroso de turno o la chica que necesita que la rescaten, son magas con todas las letras, con sus propias metas y sus propias fortalezas. En general, el elenco es mucho mejor que el de otras series parecidas, y tienen una química como grupo que está genial, terminé enganchado con lo que les pasaba a ellos también, no solo con lo que le pasaba a Will.

But be careful, these comparisons aren't bad at all, on the contrary, they give you an idea of ​​where the series is going... the good thing is that Wistoria manages to have its own vibe, its own identity, while hitting those notes that you already know and like, at first glance, the plot may seem simple: the outcast fighting to reach the top, but it's how they tell it to you that makes it so addictive. The story is, quite simply, well-told. It focuses heavily on Will’s personal journey of growth, perseverance, and overcoming obstacles. There are hints thrown in about a larger mystery involving the Maji Vander and the Celestial Hosts, which honestly left me wanting more. For now, the focus is on Will, and that’s more than enough for me. His journey is so good that it easily carries over the entire series.

So, what grade do I give it? I’m going to give Wistoria: Wand and Sword a solid 8.5 out of 10. Why not a 9 or a 10? Well, I feel like while the execution is fantastic, the story does fall into character clichés at times, and some parts of the plot feel rushed, as if the original manga wasn’t quite sure if the story was going to last very long. For example, the whole Grand Magical Festival arc felt a bit rushed, but honestly, those are minor complaints. The passion that is evident in the production, the protagonist who is a total inspiration, the animation that blows your mind, the fight scenes and the very real chemistry between the characters... all of that elevates the series to a high level, it's as if it took ingredients that we already know and cooked us a delicious dish... and well, that's it for my review today, take care! Es curioso, porque mientras la veía no podía dejar de pensar: "esto tiene un aire a DanMachi por lo de explorar calabozos, o a Mashle por el rollo de 'sin magia en un mundo mágico', y ni hablar, es imposible no pensar en Asta de Black Clover". Pero ojo, que estas comparaciones no son para nada malas, al contrario, te dan una idea de por dónde va la serie.. lo bueno es que Wistoria se las arregla para tener su propia onda, su propia identidad, mientras te toca esas notas que ya conoces y que te gustan, a simple vista, la trama puede parecer sencilla: el marginado que lucha por llegar a la cima, pero es cómo te lo cuentan lo que la hace tan adictiva. La historia está, simplemente, bien contada.. se enfoca de lleno en el viaje personal de Will, en cómo crece, en la perseverancia y en superar los obstáculos, por ahí te tiran pistas de un misterio más grande con los Maji Vander y los Anfitriones Celestiales, que la verdad me dejó con ganas de saber más, pero por ahora, el foco está puesto en Will, y con eso a mí me basta y me sobra.. su viaje es tan bueno que carga con toda la serie sin problemas.

Entonces, ¿qué nota le pongo? A Wistoria: Wand and Sword le voy a dar un sólido 8.5 de 10. ¿Y por qué no un 9 o un 10? Bueno, siento que aunque la ejecución es fantástica, la historia a veces cae en clichés de personajes y algunas partes de la trama se sienten medio apuradas, como si el manga original no estuviera muy seguro de si iba a durar mucho.. por ejemplo, todo el arco del Gran Festival Mágico se me hizo un poco apresurado, pero, sinceramente, son quejas menores. La pasión que se nota en la producción, el protagonista que es una inspiración total, la animación que te vuela la cabeza, las escenas de pelea y la química tan real entre los personajes... todo eso eleva a la serie a un nivel alto, es como si agarrara ingredientes que ya conocemos y te cocinara un plato que está delicioso.. y bueno, hasta aquí mi reseña de hoy, cuidense mucho!
