THE PRECARIOUSNESS OF PUBLIC SPACES / A PRECARIEDADE DOS ESPAÇOS PÚBLICOS (EN/PT)

Public spaces are areas of free access to people who are part of a certain area or territory. These places are managed by the local government. It is an area where “we are all their respective owners.” Responsibility is attributed not only to the managers, but to everyone who is part of the community. Part of the taxes we pay is allocated to the creation, improvement and maintenance of these places, that is, we indirectly build these places.
In theory, this is a wonderful context, but in practice the opposite occurs. When public spaces are built, they are beautiful and wonderful, however, they are forgotten over time. There is no maintenance or any type of action to keep the public heritage intact, something that loses its shine over time, becomes forgotten and turns into horrible areas in the interior of cities. Unfortunately, the population does not help; they vandalize the places, damage them, throw trash and contribute to destroying something that was once so beautiful and seen as a tourist attraction in the area.
I don't know about other countries, but Brazilian culture is culturally poor when it comes to the care and cleaning of public places. If you analyze the spatial dynamics of countless Brazilian cities, there are countless abandoned or precarious public squares, crying out for help. A cry that goes unheeded, people blame the government for what happened, while the government blames the people for deteriorating the place. One passes the buck to the other and everything remains static, nothing changes, the only thing that changes is the fact that a lot of public money was wasted and no one valued it.
I don't think Brazilian culture will change; on the contrary, I see it getting significantly worse over the years. The current generation is the one that waits for others to do things; few people take the initiative to make things happen. I don't see a bright future for humanity in this regard. Something out of the ordinary would have to happen for people to reflect on this, something that is unlikely to happen.
I would like to make a more positive post on the subject, but the future seems bleak.

Espaços públicos são áreas de livre acesso para as pessoas que fazem parte de uma determinada área ou território. Esses lugares são administrados pelo governo local. É uma área onde "todos somos seus respectivos donos". A responsabilidade é atribuída não apenas aos gestores, mas a todos que fazem parte da comunidade. Parte dos impostos que pagamos é destinada à criação, melhoria e manutenção desses lugares, ou seja, nós os construímos indiretamente.
Em teoria, esse é um contexto maravilhoso, mas na prática ocorre o oposto. Quando espaços públicos são construídos, eles são belos e maravilhosos, porém, com o tempo, são esquecidos. Não há manutenção ou qualquer tipo de ação para manter o patrimônio público intacto, algo que perde o brilho com o tempo, fica esquecido e se transforma em áreas horríveis no interior das cidades. Infelizmente, a população não ajuda; eles vandalizam os lugares, os danificam, jogam lixo e contribuem para destruir algo que antes era tão bonito e visto como atração turística na região.
Não sei sobre outros países, mas a cultura brasileira é culturalmente pobre no que diz respeito ao cuidado e à limpeza de locais públicos. Se você analisar a dinâmica espacial de inúmeras cidades brasileiras, verá que há inúmeras praças públicas abandonadas ou precárias, clamando por socorro. Um grito que não é ouvido: as pessoas culpam o governo pelo que aconteceu, enquanto o governo culpa as pessoas pela deterioração do lugar. Um passa a responsabilidade para o outro e tudo permanece estático, nada muda, a única coisa que muda é o fato de que muito dinheiro público foi desperdiçado e ninguém deu valor.
Não acho que a cultura brasileira vá mudar; pelo contrário, vejo que ela vai piorar significativamente ao longo dos anos. A geração atual é aquela que espera que os outros façam as coisas; poucas pessoas tomam a iniciativa de fazer as coisas acontecerem. Não vejo um futuro brilhante para a humanidade nesse sentido. Algo fora do comum teria que acontecer para que as pessoas refletissem sobre isso, algo que é improvável que aconteça.
Gostaria de fazer um post mais positivo sobre o assunto, mas o futuro parece sombrio.
