Just When I Thought Help Wouldn't Come

Most times, we don’t know where help will come from, but somehow God is always working behind the scenes, making a way.
You might have tried everything you could possibly do. You have done your best, but nothing seems to fall into place. It can feel like hope is slipping away. Do not give up.
That was me yesterday. I got to a point where I didn’t know what else to do. I was just hoping and praying that somehow a miracle would show up.
Here’s what happened. Yesterday, I spent the last of my money. Not just the small savings I had kept, but even the pocket money I got from home. All of it went into my final-year project and school expenses. To be honest, final year feels like the most expensive time ever. And if you’re not working or don’t have a strong backup, you might end up like me. Sitting down, thinking of what's next. It’s not a joke.
That afternoon, I ate the last rice and beans I had cooked earlier in the week. I knew that was my only meal for the day. I had no cash left. My parents had just sent money last week, but after printing out my questionnaires and running other side expenses, I was left with almost nothing. I wasn’t ready to ask for more just yet.
Having nothing to do, I went back to continue reading the topic I had been studying earlier. I tried to focus, though, but hunger made it almost impossible. I switched to watching a movie titled The Theory of Everything just to distract myself.
At first, it was interesting. But after a while, I couldn’t keep up since the hunger was building up already. The movie didn’t even interest me anymore.
What I did next was to pause the movie and step outside. I just wanted to breathe, or maybe fresh air would help me forget how hungry I was. After some minutes, I returned to my table and sat quietly, thinking of what was next to do.
As night was getting close, I picked up my phone and texted a few people on WhatsApp. I asked if I could borrow some money and pay them back by next week.
Frankly speaking, I was never expecting much, as I know how difficult things are. Everybody is managing like me. We all are just trying to survive.
As I sat there, still unsure of what to do, someone knocked on my door. It was a student going around the hostel, sharing gospel tracts. He politely asked if I was free to share the gospel. Well, I gladly said yes because I was actually free, and I love to talk about the word of God. Maybe he saw how tired I looked. I said yes, so he came in and started preaching.
This was the book he gave me
While we were talking, I heard a message beep on my phone. Hmm, that kind of sounds like a credit alert. I wanted to ignore it because I wasn’t expecting anything. But something inside me told me to check the notification.
When I opened my phone, there it was. A credit alert from NELFUN, a student loan from the government. Actually, I had been waiting for it all month, but it didn't come. And now, it just landed at the moment.
I was shocked and happy. The timing. The relief. I could finally eat at last. I could breathe. I could pay back the small debts I was worried about.
The guy continued sharing the gospel. I asked a few questions, and he answered well. When he finished, I thanked him for his kind words, and he departed.
I quickly stepped out when the guy left to buy bread and tea. I can’t even remember the last time I took tea, but that night, it felt like the best thing ever. I returned to my hostel, sat down, and ate with so much joy.
That night, I really slept in peace. Help came when I least expected it. And to me, that was enough proof that God really sees what we go through, even when we don’t say it out loud.
Thanks so much for reading till this end!!
