Wikipedia will tell you that Sparks Street in Ottawa was one of the earliest streets here that was closed to become an outdoor pedestrian mall, way back in 1967, but what it's known for by tourists and locals is a venue for one of our many festivals. Currently, it's the Busker Festival, and Buskers have been coming from around the world to perform their acts for the crowds. I managed to catch two acts yesterday.

One hoop.

Three hoops. She did many more while I was peeking through the crowd and sorting out the memory errors on my camera.

They work hard at this. That hoop weighs over 40 lbs (18 kg), I think that's the weight he gave.

Okay, I got her backwards on this one.

He's gradually turning around. Anyway, I mentioned working hard. They went to circus school, and they must work out and practice gymnastics regularly.

3/4 of the way through is the plea for money. It's a festival but the buskers really earn their way and it was good to see the crowd responding.

Down the street was another act and I have a slightly better view.

This couple had come all the way from Western Australia. They perform all over the world and they have been married for 10 years.

More hoops and juggling, and every group of buskers does something unique. Fire!

Here's the back.

And here is the front. Another fine display of talent and athleticism!
