I was never an organized person in the morning as a student

Back in the day during my school days, I was never an organized person when it came to mornings, but I didn’t suffer any setbacks either. I was just the type that lived my mornings according to the plan for the day.

But one thing I was very fond of was going for lectures late — not deeply late though. I would wake up very early as had been my custom, say around 4am or 5am, then I would stay in bed from that time until about 20 minutes to lecture time. That was when I would start running helter-skelter in preparation to go to school. And guess what, I had a lodge mate who was in the same department as me during my last two years, and he also had this lifestyle of rushing to school at the dying minutes.
Also, those moments of rushing to school were always fun — doing the left and right run and rushing to have breakfast. We trekked to school, and because we were already late, we would walk very fast and were most times soaked with sweat before getting to class.
Okay, maybe that’s the morning ritual that made my days exceptional. Just maybe, because I didn’t have bad days except for the exam day I was accused of exam malpractice. But that day was a different morning, because all through my exam days, I made sure to get to the hall before time. Of course, we would not be allowed to enter the hall if we arrived late; we would be asked to face some penalties.
Just like I wrote recently in one of my prompt entries, I wasn’t, and still am not, fond of the “social” morning devotions. I usually thanked God in my heart for the gift of life and went about my day. Even as churchy as I was at that time, I didn’t display it with an utmost spiritual lifestyle such as morning devotions, anointing my head, or taking a cup of Holy Communion as a morning ritual before leaving for school. I was just a casual person living my life as it came, and even at that, I just believed God would make things right for me — after all, I was a committed usher in the church while I was schooling.
Thanks for reading.
