Qurator's Photo Quest | Color Splash : A WING OF COLOR

This week's Photo Quest theme — Color Splash — felt like the perfect excuse to slow down and look for that one detail, that breaks through the ordinary.

Instead of chasing a landscape or a dramatic sunset, I chose a quieter subject: a butterfly. And why? Butterflies fascinate me, not just because of their beauty but because of what they show us: quiet transformation, fragile presence, fleeting brilliance.

In this image I wanted to let one butterfly speak for itself — holding its color while everything around it fades into silence.

The photo was taken during a spontaneous visit to the butterfly house (Schmetterlingshaus) in Leipzig, Germany.

Sometimes that’s all it takes:
A wing of color.
