How could I forget all the fashions that came and went?
I remember my aunt's gold and silver shoes. They were so high, but even at just twelve years old, I'd slip them on. I was happy just to wear them outside for a little while.
I remember leg warmers, haha, Bermuda shorts, mini skirts, and also wide-leg pants and corduroys.
Baggy pants, skinny jeans, and those that looked like they'd been bleached. And don't even get me started on all the things I could hang around my waist: purses, wallets, chains. The makeup, haha, the permed hair, bodysuits, leather, denim jackets, blazers, anklets, and even hairnets.
I feel like the music has stayed with me: salsa, merengue, pop, romantic music—that's what's in my soul and heart.
Everything comes and goes, everything changes, and then you have to change your wardrobe; it never ends. Being fashionable means having to earn a lot of money. I remember the Peter Pan collar, that draped collar; well, that style comes and goes. Our culture has been able to copy other countries' cultures, but we've taken our way of being to other places.
Swimsuits have also had a very special place in my closet, as has underwear, and even belts change and have come back into fashion. I like sheer clothing; right now, jumpsuits and panties are in style. I wore a lot of panties during my pregnancy.
I'd like to be fashionable in summer, winter, autumn, and spring, but it's really more than fashion; it's a matter of personality.
I love boots, booties, sneakers, and even sandals. Being fashionable can be rewarding, but it must also be exhausting; fashion is like a boomerang.
When it comes to fashion, it just comes and goes.
