Come along and see for yourself that France has more than 1 Arc de Triomphe. Today I show you the stunning L’Arc de Triomphe ~ from Montpellier, in southern France 🇫🇷 along the Mediterranean Sea.
We will walk towards it and you will see views from every side. Different angles and also some artistic captures where I let the surrounding flowers be also a star together with this beautiful Arch.
With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk #challenge. That is hosted by @tattoodjay every week on Wednesday.

You can read in above’s website 👆🏻 the following:
“A bit of History
Designed by the architect François D’Orbay, a student of Mansart, the Triumphal Arch was built in 1692 to replace one of the gates of the old rampart.
It is a mandatory access to enter Montpellier’s city center from the Peyrou park.
Discover the medallions, the bas-reliefs and the attic (the top) dyed in ocher and yellow, as well as a royal coat of arms which has regained its blue color of France…”
Do check out its information and history a bit more… very informative.
Let’s start our walk. Come along… it will be beautiful, as the sun is shining bright today… the spring flowers are blooming and the sky is ohhhh so blue. A perfect day in every way.
We are walking through a large shopping street when we see in the distance already the Arch de Triumph. Slowly we see more and more.
We walk “safely” into the middle of the road (some places have a wider bit between the lanes) and there we can take a few captures from the arch in the distance.
As we got closer by we can see the L’Arc de Triomphe better. It is highlighted by the sun. The rest of the street with the tall buildings lies still in the shade.
We go back to the pavement on the right where we can walk.
The closer we get the more we see L’Arc de Triomphe. The planted flowers make for some interesting captures. Don’t you think?
On our right we see this monumental building. I just had to include it today. Just look at it. Stunning architecture… the colour standing out against the bright blue sky. All the steps leading up to the columns. Beautiful. L’Arc de Triomphe is on the left in the middle of the street.
We wander further and the flowers change…
I like the green street lantern close to the arc. It stands out. What a perfect addition…
Let’s make this cute green street lantern a star! It deserves it.
Now we are right before the arch. We take in all the details. The carvings in stone…
As we walked past it we see the other side. We try to stand in its shade so we can see the details on the other side as the sun is bright. Do stand on the side as the road is heavily used and cars and bikes go right under the arch.
A quick wander off to the side gives us this view. Trams 🚃 are running underneath it just in front of the arch.
Let’s take in the magnificent views of this monument. So beautiful…
I capture a photo on the ground… I really like this capture and the white car driving into the scene makes it more fun. What do you think?
I think this is one of my favourite photos of the day.
The next photo I like too… it shows you a bit more from the buildings and its architecture around it. No cars this time, just some people wandering around. Of course a group of tourists was just capturing a group photo on the other side of the arch… haha
One more… seen from below… maybe this is a better capture than the photo with the white car. Hhhmmm yes, I think it is.
L’Arc de Triomphe is a star in this one.
Don’t miss this stunning sight whenever you would visit southern France. 🇫🇷 Montpellier has some beautiful views to discover.
I will show you more from the south of France in the weeks to come.
Yes, I am still here 😉 I extended my travel plans a bit… why not… right!
