Greetings, my dear readers. Today, while rummaging through my book collection, I found a book I had read quite some time ago and decided to revisit its story and share it with you.

Allegro de Habaneras by the Cuban author Humberto Arenal. This novel was published in 2004 and has since been very well received by readers in Cuba and other countries.

Humberto Arenal was born on January 15, 1926, in Havana. He is a great writer, playwright, and novelist. Critics consider him a remarkable creator, both for his extensive and diverse work as a novelist and playwright, as well as for his roles as a juror, professor, and lecturer. His professional work places him in a prominent position in Cuban culture as a first-rate intellectual.

The main driving force of the story is the protagonist's need to connect his present in Catalonia, Spain, with a scattered family past in Cuba. The novel explores how migration and geographical distance affect memory and personal identity.

Allegro de habaneras del cubano Humberto Arenal. Esta novela fue publicada en el año 2004 y desde entonces tuvo gran aceptación del público tanto cubano como de otros países.

Humberto Arenal nació el 15 de enero de 1926 en La Habana, gran escritor, dramaturgo y narrador . Considerado por la crítica como un notable creador tanto en su amplia y diversa labor de narrador y dramaturgo, como de jurado, profesor y conferencista. Su obra profesional lo coloca en un lugar destacado en la cultura cubana como intelectual de primer nivel.

El título de esta magestuosa obra es una referencia musical: "Allegro" es un término de velocidad y la "Habanera" es un ritmo cubano-español que simboliza la conexión y la añoranza entre las dos orillas.

Ahora bien, hablemos un poquito más de esta fascinante novela. La sinopsis se centra en la visita de un músico catalán a Cuba por diversas causas, una de las más representativas es indagar acerca de la existencia de un tío suyo que emigró a Cuba y de quien jamás recibieron noticia alguna. Ya llegado a nuestro país, un matrimonio cubano que él había atendido anteriormente en Madrid lo colma de muchas atenciones, característica principal de los habitantes de esta Isla. En su estancia conoce a dos mujeres que según él tenían un sinfín de diferencias entre sí: la primera una mulata hermosa “hija de Oshún y de Yemayá” que lo intercepta en en la Habana Vieja. Ese era el oficio de aquella mujer , aunque luego llegará a sentir amor po este visitante, y la otra mujer era una filòloga, profesora de literatura española, toda hermosa y muy culta. Ambas mujeres son objeto de su interés, ambas lo motivan y despiertan en él, nuevas sensaciones, pero la elección resulta un conflicto solo despejado al final de estás páginas desbordadas de devoción y amor por La Habana , ciudad que se convierte en protagonista de esta excelente obra.

El motor principal de la historia es la necesidad del protagonista de conectar su presente en Cataluña/España con un pasado familiar disperso en Cuba. La novela explora cómo la migración y las distancias geográficas afectan la memoria y la identidad personal.
