Sally was not happy that Tom stood her up after all the preparation that went into her getting ready for her trip. "You'll just have to come and get me on that ship, Tom. Do you think the government will let us leave?"
She kept staring at him as if he had two heads and was talking to herself. "I'll be happy to leave if you promise to keep the place as nice as it's always been. You won't think to wonder what's happened here." She was trying to sound cool.
She just wasn't doing very well. He just looked at her. Finally he turned to me and said. 'She's the only one who's ever stood up to you. Go to her, she needs you.'
I made up my mind that it wasn't worth it, Sally. I don't know if I'll ever make it back, in fact I'm not sure I ever will. Not without my family and your help. So it might as well be me who stays.' He gave a slight smile. "You know you're going too, right?"
Sally looked around the room. A little nervous. Tom, on the other hand, looked positively gleeful, as he thought of his chances of being the one to finally rescue me...
