Take Me To Church: Hozier - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Chase the sun of the group Koven.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Take me to the church of the artist Hozier.

For today, I wanted to change things up a bit and bring something much more current, since I usually share pretty old music. In fact, the music was from way back when. So, I was talking about music with a friend with whom we often recommend songs, and he sent me a South-Korean song that reminded me of one I'd heard a while back.

Thanks to that, I remembered a song I really liked and had discovered a few years ago thanks to a Beats by Dr. Dre commercial. Interestingly, Dr. Dre is my favorite artist in the entire Hip-Hop scene, and I've already had the opportunity to feature several of his musical works in my posts.

The song I was talking about is Take Me To The Church by Hozier. At first, it seems like a religious song, but it's actually quite the opposite; it's a strong critique of the Church. Beyond its message, I found it to be a very emotional song, with an intensity that builds until it reaches a truly impressive final explosion.

Interestingly, I was researching the history of the song and realized it was released in 2013, but for some reason I ended up discovering it about four or five years later.

Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, better known by his stage name Hozier, is an Irish musician who blends genres such as soul, blues, and alternative rock. He began his musical career in 2010 as a member of an Irish traditional music choir. However, it wasn't until 2013 that he embarked on his solo career and released his first EP, "Take Me to Church."

This EP became a true success, thanks to songs like "Angel of Small Death & the Codeine Scene" and, above all, "Take Me to Church." The latter became a worldwide hit, mainly due to its critical lyrics regarding the persecution and discrimination suffered by the LGBT+ community.

To date, "Take Me To Church" has a total of 3,100,000,000 views on Spotify, while the official YouTube video has garnered some 580 million views. The song's impact led to its nomination for a Grammy for Best Song of the Year in 2013, which, unfortunately, did not end up winning.
