AAA TripleMania XXXIII - Summary
2 comments
The event began with Soul Michaels, Marisela Peña, Triple H, Dorian Roldan, and Nick appearing in the ring. Immediately afterward, the Mexican national anthem would be played, and the event could begin as such. The first match we had was the Bardal Cup. For those who aren't fully informed, like me, it's a purely honorary cup, meaning there's nothing important at stake. It's a kind of Royal Rumble, but in addition to being able to eliminate your opponent by throwing them over the top rope, you can also do so by submission or by a three-count. The first two entrants were La Parka and Laredo Kid, and the former was very overpowered throughout the match.
He was one of the big favorites to win. Joaquín Wild of the Latino World Order would then enter, followed by Abismo Negro Junior. Taurus and Aerostar followed, as we already saw in Walls Colide, and he was the first to score an elimination by bringing out Laredok. Then Mecha Wolf entered as the seventh participant. Thor's Cru appeared behind him to try to save his teammate Joaquín Wild, and shortly after, he was being eliminated after receiving that kind of liquid in his face. Then, we had the return of Otis, who had been sidelined for a few months due to injury and returned at Triplemanía.
And he wasn't the only one; he was also one of the main protagonists of the match. He was quite important. After Otis came Scarlet Pimpernel, who was a total discovery for me, guys, and also starred in one of the funniest moments with the Alpha Academy member. Of course, swapping Mandy Rose for Scarlet Pimpernel was a great decision on Otis's part. After Cibernético's entrance, the goat entered, the GOAT, the greatest of all time, the legend. Mr. Microman.
It seems completely crazy to me to have watched this audiovisual content completely free. I loved Microman, I swear.
And now came the surprise of all surprises, the return of our Messiah, the visionary, Mr. Perfume, the otaku, the king of Homo sapiens. Homo was back and, of course, presented himself as a true threat to the rest of the fighters, and he starred in the best moment of the entire Bardal Cup alongside Microman, that confrontation between a 6'2" guy and Homoman. What should he do? What should he do? 120, 110, 1115? I have no idea, but the difference was insane. It was like a mosquito constantly smashing itself against a wall. And as the final entry in the fight, we had
Octagón Junior, who, along with the Grim Reaper, were candidates for victory. We reached the finals, and Omomos eliminated Octagón Junior, and shortly after, the Grim Reaper almost eliminated the Giant, but luckily, unfortunately, it remained a close call, as Homos ended up throwing him with his claws to eliminate him and become the winner of the 2025 Vardal Cup. And I wonder, will we see more of Homos in Mexico? We'll have to wait and see, but I think so.
The Messiah vs. The Son of Dr. Wagner Jr. – AAA Latin American Championship
The next match would be El Mesías vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. - AAA Latin American Championship, a one-on-one between El Mesías and the son of Dr. Wagner Junior for the Triple A Latin American Mega Championship.
Before the match, they showed us footage of the rivalry to give us some context, something I desperately needed, and I saw that it was a match with a lot of history, not only between them, but especially between El Mesías and his rival's father, Dr. Wagner Junior. A Mesías who, by the way, pleasantly surprised me. First, because I think he's a very good rudo. It shows in his blood, even on his face, and then, because I checked his age, he's no less than 50 years old. There are exceptions, like Rey Misterio, who's almost 50, or AJ Styles and those types of people, but as a general rule, at 50, you're ready to throw things away.
And yes, it's true that he doesn't perform miracles in the ring, but hey, he's 50 years old and pretty decent. So, the Messiah, a pleasant surprise for me. A fight that had a lot of prominence at ringside, as the Messiah was accompanied by Dorian Roldán, and Dr. Wagner Jr. was ringside. Of course, he supported his son and constantly argued with both the Messiah himself and Dorian Roldán, a Messiah who spent the entire fight threatening to rip off Dr. Wagner Jr.'s son's mask.
But he didn't quite succeed. In the end, tired of seeing so much cheating, Dr. Wagner Jr. jumped over the ring fence to prevent Dorian Roldán from bothering his son. It's true that he immediately received the spear from the Messiah, but the count remained at two. Shortly after, he connected with that Wagner Driver and the three count to become the new Triple-A Latin American Champion, and his father entered the ring to share that beautiful moment with his son.
Main Event – El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Dominik Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano vs. Dragon Lee – AAA Mega Championship
Now it's El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Dominik Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano vs. Dragon Lee - AAA Mega Championship
Yes, guys. We were at the main event where El Hijo del Vikingo put the Mega Championship on the line against the great American Dragon Lee and the greatest Mysterio of all time. I thought the entrances of all four wrestlers were pretty good, but I can't help but choose the great American's.
In addition to the entrance in question, the Spanish commentators thanked Triple Segoviano and called him Triple Cine. I couldn't believe it, but it was real, guys. They meant it. This match was, without a doubt, the main attraction of the 33rd edition of Triplemanía.
