I don't know if it's the same in your country, but at least here, once university degrees are completed, graduates have to go through a licensing process. In my case, as a certified public accountant, I have to go through this licensing process in order to practice independently. Normally, this process is carried out once the degree has been obtained. However, I waited 10 years after graduation to complete this process. This happened because at that time I was working for a company and did not see the need to join the professional association. In reality, it was irresponsible of me, but I simply did not see the need at that time.

Now that time has passed and my goal is to practice public accounting independently, I decided to go through the licensing process, which is precisely the reason for this post. After submitting several requirements and paying the sum of $83, I formalized the registration process. Fortunately, I was very close to the swearing-in date, which is the final step. This Saturday, September 27, is the swearing-in ceremony, which will take place at a well-known restaurant.

But before this swearing-in ceremony, I had to attend a talk that covered topics such as professional ethics, among other aspects of accounting, as well as information related to the swearing-in ceremony. This took place at the Ceproaragua headquarters, a social venue where various associations meet to process registrations and answer questions from different professionals.

As you can see in the photos, it is a social venue with several departments, several spaces, even a cafeteria, and there is also a place where very interesting works of art are exhibited, mostly related to the city of Maracay and its idiosyncrasies. It is a place that exudes good vibes and professionalism, and honestly, it was a pleasure to be there, in that environment, after several years away from the profession and dedicating myself to other things.

During the talk, we were given information about the code of ethics and some of the actions that public accountants must take into account when practicing independently, through a series of slides presented by the vice president of the Association of Accountants in a very clear and professional manner. Attendance at the talk was mandatory in order to obtain a pass or ticket to the swearing-in ceremony, which is a fundamental requirement for obtaining the CPC, or Public Accountant Code, which will allow me to practice independently.

It has been a very interesting process, which I hope to complete this Saturday, the 27th, an event that I will also share here, as it will be a very special day. By the way, I took advantage of the fact that the Association of Accountants has several sports disciplines and was able to make contact to sign up for the indoor soccer team, which is the sport, or one of the sports, that I like the most and that I plan to play or practice quite regularly and frequently. It was a pleasure to share, see you next time, bye-bye.
