Planning for an African adventure

Me and hubby are planning where to do our next holiday. Since he works for an airline, we can get tickets at a very good discounted price, so we try to select the destinations where the airline is flying. It is still time for the holidays, it will be only after 6 to 7 months, but I like to start planning in advance and do all the research work. Get all possible options and then finalize.
It's been my long standing dream to visit Africa. I have not been in that part of the world, and I am so much fascinated to visit this region. Especially to explore the wild-life. I have read that Serengeti National Park is a wonderful safari destination. I am also keen on seeing the Mount Kilimanjaro, again I have never seen a volcanic site so this is one more fascination for me. I would have loved to do trekking here, but I know both my boys will never want that, both of them are very lazy.
I have read that this region is very beautiful, the beaches of Zanzibar has white sands and turquoise waters, I am sure it must be a delight to visit. With all of these unique attractions, I think I will go ahead with Tanzania in Africa as my next destination. As of now I have started looking at which are the must visit places in this region and what are the available tour options. I would like to do a private tour only as group is not very convenient for us. Last holiday to Turkey, couple of days I selected group tours and my experience was not very pleasant. There were some unnecessary places also that we had to visit because it was a part of the group itinerary, so that kind of is waste of my time.
Anyways, as of now I will do good research and take some tips from people who have visited and then finalize on the plan and look for a good tour operator who can give me a customized holiday package for the 3 of us. I am already feeling so excited. I have never visited a wild life safari. Many years back we had been to one, but except for elephants and some local animals we did not see anything, so it is going to be my first time experience if this holiday happens.
