Hello movie lovers. Tonight I want to talk to you about what is known to be the most successful movie at the box office of this century. A wonderful story that blends science fiction with adventure, action and drama on a level that is undeniably "out of this world". Written, produced and directed by one of the greatest geniuses in the world of cinema, James Cameron, this film revolutionized the way movies are made, perfectly combining 3D special effects with motion capture techniques, thus achieving a budget of more than 300 million dollars. Starring Sam Worthington, the film won multiple academy awards, including "Best Movie" thanks to the countless accolades it has received from critics and the rest of the audience.

Hola amantes del cine. La noche de hoy les quiero hablar de la que se conoce es la película más exitosa en taquilla de este siglo. Una maravillosa historia que mezcla la ciencia ficción con la aventura, la acción y el drama a un nivel que es indudablemente “de otro mundo”. Escrita, producida y dirigida por uno de los genios más grandes del mundo del cine, James Cameron, esta cinta revolucionó la forma de hacer películas, combinando perfectamente efectos especiales 3D con técnicas de captura de movimiento, consiguiendo así un presupuesto mayor a los 300 millones de dólares. Protagonizado por Sam Worthington, la película consiguió múltiples premios de la academia, entre ellos a “Mejor Película” gracias a los innumerables elogios que ha recibido por parte de la crítica y el resto de la audiencia.

Plot

The story begins several centuries in the future, in a place in the distant space called Pandora, which is a moon of a planet similar to Jupiter where humanoid beings called Na'vi inhabit, which are easily recognized by having a height greater than 3 meters, being blue and having cat-like features. A fleet arrives there in search of one of the most sought-after minerals in the galaxy, which is the solution to Earth's energy problems. However, the main problem is that this mineral is found under a huge tree where one of the largest clans of these blue inhabitants live.

This is where we are introduced to Jake Sully, a paralyzed ex-military man who has been selected to participate in a special army program called "Avatar" which consists of transporting the mind of a human being in an artificially made Na'vi body. They do this in order to infiltrate the Na'vi tribe faster than being mere humans. But, to achieve this, they will have to gain their trust by learning their language, getting to know the fauna and flora of the forest and their traditions, as well as performing a rite for them to become part of the tribe and thus gain their trust. However, Jake's main mission is to collect information for the exercise and thus get to know the enemy better.

Trama

La historia empieza varios siglos en el futuro, en un lugar en el lejano espacio llamado Pandora, la cual es una luna de un planeta similar a Júpiter donde habitan seres humanoides llamados Na’vi, los cuales se les reconoce fácilmente por tener una altura mayor a los 3 metros, ser de color azul y tener rasgos de gato. Una flota llega a dicho lugar en busca de uno de los minerales más cotizados de la galaxia la cual es la solución a los problemas energéticos que tiene la Tierra. Sin embargo, el problema principal es que dicho mineral se encuentra debajo de un enorme árbol donde viven uno de los clanes más grandes de dichos habitantes azulados.

He aquí donde nos presentan a Jake Sully, un ex-militar paralítico que ha sido seleccionado para participar en un programa especial de la armada llamada “Avatar” el cual consiste en transportar la mente de un ser humano en un cuerpo Na’vi hecho artificialmente. Esto lo hacen con el fin de infiltrarse entre la tribu Na’vi más rápido que siendo simples humanos. Pero, para lograr esto, tendrán que ganarse su confianza aprendiendo su lenguaje, conociendo la fauna y flora del bosque y las tradiciones de ellos, amén de realizar un rito para que estos se vuelvan parte de la tribu y así ganarse su confianza. Sin embargo, la misión principal de Jake es recolectar información para el ejercicio y así conocer mejor al enemigo.

Without a doubt, we are talking about one of the best movies I have ever seen. It's not too much to say that it's a marvel in terms of production, visual effects, story and characters. There is a reason why this movie managed to be the highest grossing of all for almost a decade. And the excellent work James Cameron did to create a story as fantastic as this one is evident, not to mention that he even created a new language for the film. The amount of money that was spent in production and the techniques that were used at that time, which was something revolutionary for the world of cinema at that time, shows the affection that the director gave to the film.

Those of us who saw this film will completely agree that it is an audiovisual marvel, since the shots, the soundtrack and the visuals shown in it are marvelous. It is literally like getting to know a new and gigantic world, with life and a society that lives and is part of that place. The way we are taught the beliefs of the Na'vi, their connection to Pandora and the way they fight and grow to become hunters is spectacular. It sounds a lot like similar stories I've seen in current movies or series that surely were inspired by this great work.

Sin duda alguna, estamos hablando de una de las mejores películas que he visto en mi vida. No es mucho decir que es una maravilla en cuanto a producción, efectos visuales, historia y personajes. Por algo es que esta película consiguió ser la más taquillera de todas durante casi una década. Y es que el excelente trabajo que hizo James Cameron para crear una historia tan fantástica como esta es evidente, además de mencionar que creó hasta un idioma nuevo para dicha película. La cantidad de dinero que se gastó en producción y las técnicas que utilizaron en aquel entonces, lo cual fue algo revolucionario para el mundo del cine en aquel entonces, demuestra el cariño que el director le dió a dicha cinta.

Los que vimos esta película estaremos completamente de acuerdo en que es una maravilla audiovisual, ya que los planos, la banda sonora y las visuales que se muestran en ella son maravillosos. Es literalmente como conocer un mundo nuevo y gigantesco, con vida y una sociedad que vive y forma parte de dicho lugar. La forma en la que nos enseñan las creencias de los Na’vi, su conexión con Pandora y la forma de ellos luchar y crecer para convertirse en cazadores es algo espectacular. Me suena mucho a historias similares que he visto en películas o series actuales que seguramente se inspiraron en esta gran obra.

As for the cast, they do not do badly at all, rather they show us an excellent character development. Starting with Jake, the protagonist, who starts out as an ex-military man who has lost both his twin brother and his legs to the war, but ends up becoming one of the most important characters in all of Pandora. The evolution from being an infiltrated spy to a guide and savior for the Na'vi is magnificent, which shows us the excellent versatility of the actor who plays him. Not to mention the feelings he develops with some of the inhabitants of the tribe and with the forest itself.

This story has been seen many times in the world of cinema: the protagonist reincarnated in a fantastic world where he becomes the hero and savior. However, in this case the story is taken to the next level, with details and lessons so valuable that they are even evident when watching or remembering the movie. The warriors, betrayal, love, hate, revenge, freedom; all this and more is what is contained in this beautiful story, which surely inspired many others that we have seen in similar movies or series. Undoubtedly, this film marked a lot in a whole generation and culture, giving much to talk about and being remembered today as one of the best films that have existed in history and genre.

Personally, I give it a well-deserved rating of 10/10 in the genres of science fiction, adventure and drama.

En cuanto al elenco, no lo hacen nada mal, más bien nos muestran un excelente desarrollo de personajes. Empezado por Jake, el protagonista, el cual empieza siendo un ex-militar que ha perdido tanto a su hermano gemelo como sus piernas por la guerra, pero termina convirtiéndose en uno de los personajes más importantes de toda Pandora. La evolución de ser un espía infiltrado a un guía y salvador para los Na’vi es magnífica, lo cual nos muestra la excelente versatilidad que tiene el actor que lo interpreta. Eso, sin contar los sentimientos que desarrolla con algunos de los habitantes de dicha tribu y con el mismo bosque.

Esta historia se ha visto muchas veces en el mundo del cine: el protagonista reencarnado en un mundo fantástico donde se convierte en el héroe y salvador. Sin embargo, en este caso la historia es llevada a un siguiente nivel, con detalles y lecciones tan valiosas que son hasta evidentes al momento de ver o recordar la película. Las guerreras, la traición, el amor, el odio, la venganza, la libertad; todos esto y más es lo que contiene esta hermosa historia, la cual seguramente inspiró a muchas otras que hayamos visto en películas o series similares. Sin duda alguna, esta cinta marcó mucho en toda una generación y en la cultura, dando mucho de qué hablar y siendo recordada en la actualidad como una de las mejores cintas que han existido en la historia y el género.

Personalmente, le doy una merecida calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta a los géneros de ciencia ficción, aventura y drama.
