GPT-4 is not for you

I am sure by now many have seen the new Chat GPT news as you scroll your feeds combined with Bitcoin is up and other IDGAF news.

Personally, I don't mind the flood of hype or shade that things get. This can be anything, from the riots we expect on the 20th in SA to Bank collapses and Disasters.

All I expect from my feed is for the info to be polarized. I really can find the middle ground myself. Ie. Entertain me, you clowns.

Oh but Pen what has this got to do with GPT-4, you are just writing stuff to fill the word count.

GPT is to be used

Inevitably people are going to complain that GPT needs to not be restricted as much, or it has a bias and although the latter can be concerning. It hardly matters.

The first part about restrictions has a good example among others in their system card as you can see below.

This makes perfect sense to just shut these types of uses down, because standup comedians should do the work themselves.

As for everyone else feel free to have GPT write you a kids joke book and make bank.

Now I am not trying to give some hippiejective perspective, this is all my opinion. As such the one concern I do find partially valid is the bias GPT displays.

Now it does tend to be a bias in politics or some freakeaology so use that to your benefit, which I guess some kinda do but to go against the system instead of using it against the bias they dislike.

If GPT refuses to write about Trump but likes Biden for you Muricans then have it write about how Biden supports Isis and or some loophole like that.

The news is littered with what used to be conspiracy theories but is now just good hard taboo-loving facts. Use that.

Knowing a tool

I bet you expected a Dad joke.

A big chunk of my rambling has been about bias and the usual people issues that make systems unreliable; Just that.

On one hand, a person might think they should let it say what it wants but that is just the case it is not a person, it should not have an opinion and it is taking in data which is opinionated.

Unless GPT can indeed interpret data from a hate everyone equally point or for the hippies vice-versa. It won't be a good general propaganda machine. Everyone knows you need to supply both sides of the war.

If people just accept that it is a product and is aimed at general knowledge and task execution then having limits on what it is allowed to say makes perfect sense.

Then we get into the fun stuff.

As mentioned in a previous example, GPT won't write offensive jokes, and I agree; If you want to be a comedian standup and do the damn work yourself.

As for general things well GPT can write stories, do homework, reason, caption and breakdown visuals and it can code etc.

Not sure if it is trained on audio and video yet then at least no one needs to work at BBC or CNN anymore. So that is nice, you might actually get the news at face-value.

But I jump ahead.

So GPT does those things because it sells, bestselling authors are not going to quible over whether to use it because in the end it hardly matters who wrote some story.

It will sell though.

It won't matter who is making the food recipes on some popular site, it will only matter that they are good and new and sell.

It does not matter who did the kid's homework because they will fail and become antifa anyway.

It won't matter that some company laid off 1000 support staff because questions will still get answers.

It does not matter who ghost writes popular songs because the fans have nothing more to live for.

In the end, GPT is just the foundational tool and any restrictions on it now will soon evaporate as others make their own versions. Being bothered whether GPT likes pink or blue the most is not a concern because of you.

It is a concern because GPT can't make money from both the pink and blue company if it has a preference.
