It's My Birthday

It's that time of the year again where I get to thank everyone and everything in my life that has led me to this very moment, but before I do that, can we just acknowledge how fast this year has been? It feels just like yesterday when I had a lot of people over to my place to come eat and drink with me last year to celebrate my last birthday.

But I thank God for life, for good health, for my family and of course I thank all of you who may or may not have contributed to my life one way or the another.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), unlike last year when I had a bit of celebration, I've decided that this year would be different, so rather than drink alcohol and get drunk, I had instead kept the whole thing low-key. Only a few of my friends knew about it because I didn't want any of the guys pressuring me to buying alcoholic drinks or doing something I didn't want to do.

Rather, I had gone to church today, then later went out to the field to exercise and play football. My hostel had a match with another hostel, and we ended up winning them 9-3, and yes, it was football not basketball. It felt like the boys did it for me, even though they didn't know it was my birthday.

After that I had spent the rest of my afternoon just sleeping and, as usual, regretting my actions of going to play football due to the body pains I'm currently experiencing. But it was all fun and definitely worth it, and I would do it all over again if presented the opportunity.

Now I'm sitting in my room, replying to birthday messages from my family and friends, and with the heavy downpour happening outside, I just might go back to bed.
