For many years people talk about this possibility, but now it look like the government is moving forward with the idea. They say it is for “security” and “convenience,” but we all know how these stories usually go. First they promise it is voluntary, then later it becomes required for more and more things, until one day you cannot live without it.

Convenience always come before freedom in these types of projects. Once the system is in place, it is almost impossible to roll back. With Bitcoin, you don’t need to trust a central authority to validate who you are. The network is neutral, open for everyone, and not based on permission.
