Senzoku Ike — this is where I’m taking you for my WalkVentures Stepisode 2.
One random Wednesday, I had some offset hours from work to burn, so I figured I might as well spend it exploring while I’m in Tokyo. I had zero plans, just went with the flow and let my feet decide where to go. Well technically, it was my stomach that dictated the itinerary that day. I was craving my favorite Yokohama Iekei ramen in Jiyugaoka, so that’s where I headed for lunch. I usually pair it with Gong Cha to fully satisfy the craving combo.

After that hearty meal, I was super full, so a walk was a must to burn off all the calories I just consumed. I searched for a nearby park and found Senzoku Ike (pond) on Google Maps. Without overthinking it, I decided to walk the 2.4km route from Jiyugaoka Station to Senzoku Ike.

It was a sunny day, but the wind was cold, so walking under direct sunlight wasn’t too bad. Still, it was a bit of a struggle for me since I'm not exactly a fan of being under the sun, and it wasn’t the most comfortable walk either.

When I reached Senzoku Ike, I took my time to enjoy the scenery. It felt like an oasis tucked away in the middle of the city. There were plenty of resting spots around the pond, so I made a few pit stops just to sit, take in the view, and reflect on life (charot!).
Walking around the pond was easy since it’s not that big. You could probably finish a loop in under an hour. I saw a lot of people jogging, some fishing (because, well, it is a pond), and a few families enjoying the paddle boats.

Another day-off well spent and legs well used. There are a lot of parks in Japan, so I hope I can take you with me in my next WalkVentures one park at a time.

That’s all for this stepisode. Catch you on my next WalkVentures! šŸ‘£
