A Week of Fun [Eng/Esp]

Every year during the school vacations the Baptist Churches organize the Vacation Bible School, both for the children of the church and for the children of the community.

A whole week filled with lots of fun, crafts, games and learning about the word of God.

Todos los años durante las vacaciones escolares las Iglesias Bautistas organizan la Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones, tanto para los niños de la iglesia como para los de la comunidad.

Una semana entera llena de mucha diversión, manualidades, juegos y aprendizajes sobre la palabra de Dios.

Hello friends, I hope you are enjoying this school break with your family and that you are doing lots of fun things with the little ones at home.

For my part I can say that these vacations have been full of a lot of movement for the happiness of Matias and Miranda, who have had trips to the movies, the beach, the theater, shopping malls and many activities at home, but undoubtedly one of the most anticipated activities is the VBS (Vacation Bible School) that every year our church organizes.

My children attend every year since they were very young since I was the director of the children's part in my church, so I took them with me even when they were not old enough for it but all the kids collaborated in their care and they enjoyed a wonderful experience.

Hola amigos, espero estén disfrutando en familia de éste receso escolar y que estén haciendo muchas cosas divertidas con los más peques de la casa.

Por mi parte puedo decir que éstas vacaciones han estado llenas de mucho movimiento para felicidad de Matías y Miranda, quienes han tenido salidas al cine, la playa, al teatro, centros comerciales y muchas actividades en casa, pero sin dudas una de las actividades más esperadas es la EBDV (Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones) que todos los años organiza nuestra iglesia.

Mis niños asisten cada año desde muy pequeños ya que yo era la directora de la parte infantil en mi iglesia, por lo que los llevaba conmigo aún cuando no tenían la edad para ello pero todos los chicos colaboraban en su cuidado y ellos disfrutaban de una experiencia maravillosa.

Unfortunately because of the Covid pandemic it had two years without being able to take place but this year they resumed the annual planning of the VBDVS and of course my children were happy to know that they could participate again.

The main objective of the VBSD is the evangelization of children through various activities such as games, crafts, theater, etc.. It is a whole week that usually took place in the afternoon, but for the last few years it has been held in the mornings from nine to twelve o'clock.

The fun begins as soon as you cross the door, since the church facilities are completely decorated according to the corresponding theme.

Lamentablemente por la pandemia del Covid tenía dos años sin poder realizarse pero éste año retomaron la planificación anual de la EBDV y por supuesto mis hijos felices de saber que nuevamente podrían participar.

El objetivo principal de la EBDV es la evangelización de niños a través de distintas actividades como juegos, manualidades, teatro, etc. Es toda una semana que generalmente era en horas de la tarde, pero hace unos años se está realizando en las mañanas de nueve a doce.

La diversión comienza apenas cruzas la puerta, ya que las instalaciones de la iglesia son completamente ambientadas de acuerdo a la temática que corresponda.

This theme is different every year, we have had gymnasium, observatory, sea adventures, soccer world cup and many more.

Each time the temple is decorated in a very attractive way so that the children feel at ease and this year was no exception. The theme was focused on the daring in its different expressions; music, theater, painting, crafts, etc..

So in every corner of the church you could find elements related to art. From musical instruments to paintings and works of art all over the place.

Ésta temática cada año es diferente, hemos tenido gimnasio, observatorio, aventuras en el mar, mundial de fútbol y muchas más.

En cada oportunidad el templo es decorado de manera muy llamativa para que los niños se sientan a gusto y éste año no fue la excepción. La temática estaba enfocada en el atre en sus distintas expresiones; música, teatro, pintura, manualidades, etc.

Así que en cada rincón de la iglesia se podían encontrar elementos relacionados con el arte. Desde instrumentos musicales hasta pinturas y obras de arte por todo el lugar.

The activities during those days are varied, generally there are four areas. One dedicated to arts and crafts, another to games, another for the class as such and finally the favorite part of many! The snack hahaha.

For this the children are organized in four groups according to their age and rotate in the different "stations" so while some are in the crafts, others in the play area and so on until each group makes their visit to each station.

At the beginning of the activity the whole group gathers to welcome and each "Leader" organizes his or her team. Some songs are sung and the morning activities are explained. Then the groups start the rotations for each station.

Las actividades durante esos días son variadas, generalmente son cuatro áreas. Una dedicada a las manualidades, otra a los juegos, otra para la clase como tal y por último la parte favorita de muchos! La merienda jajaja.

Para ésto los niños se organizan en cuatro grupos según su edad y rotan en las distintas "estaciones" así que mientras unos están en las manualidades, otros en el área de juegos y así hasta que cada grupo haga su visita a cada estación.

Al inicio de la actividad todo el grupo se reúne para dar la bienvenida y cada "Líder" organiza su equipo. Se cantan algunas canciones y se explican las actividades de la mañana. Luego los grupos inician las rotaciones por cada estación.

Once everyone has completed the four rotations they go to the main hall where the VBS slogan songs for this year are sung and there are rounds of questions with awards to reinforce what they have learned during the day.

For my children it is a very special week and they enjoy it very much, perhaps because they participate from a very young age and feel familiar with the activities.

Although every year it was held in August, this year there was a change and it started on Monday of last week and although the last day of activities was on Friday, the closing ceremony was held on Sunday.

Una vez todos han realizado las cuatro rotaciones van al salón principal donde se cantan las canciones lemas de la EBDV para éste año y se realizan rondas de preguntas con premiación para reforzar lo aprendido durante ése día.

Para mis niños es una semana muy especial y la disfrutan muchísimo, quizá porque participan desde muy pequeños y se sienten familiarizados con las actividades.

Aunque todos los años se hacía en el mes de Agosto, éste año hubo un cambio e inició el lunes de la semana pasada y a pesar que el último día de actividades fue el viernes, el domingo se realizó la clausura. Con actividades especiales.

A very special service where there was an exhibition of all the manual activities carried out by the children during those five days, in addition to making a presentation by group where each one had a participation.

Both my children and I have beautiful memories of the VBS. Each one for different reasons, of course.

They, of course, because it is a week of great fun and in my case because of the beautiful work with the children of the community.

Every year VBS works with about 70 children during that week and although it is really exhausting, every day you go home completely satisfied to see so many happy faces everywhere you look during those five days.

Un servicio muy bonito donde se realizó una exposición de todas las actividades manuales realizadas por los niños durante esos cinco días, además de hacer una presentación por grupo donde cada uno tuvo una participación.

De la EBDV tanto mis niños como yo guardamos bellos recuerdos. Cada uno por razones diferentes, eso sí.

Ellos por supuesto porque es una semana de mucha diversión y en mi caso por el hermoso trabajo con los niños de la comunidad.

La EBDV cada año trabaja con alrededor de 70 niños durante toda esa semana y aunque es realmente agotador, cada día te vas a casa completamente satisfecho de ver tantas caritas felices a donde quiera que mires durante esos cinco días.

This time I was not part of the organization but the children were able to enjoy the VBS and they came home happy every day with new experiences to tell.

I think that for them this vacation has been much more than they imagined and we still have more experiences to share. And as the start of the new school year is approaching we should make the most of these days!

I hope you and your little ones are enjoying this school vacation together, either at home or with outings away from home.

And remember that it doesn't matter the activity or the place, but spending quality time with our children.

Every day we take to share with them strengthens the parent-child and sibling bonds, which is of great importance for the development of a good family dynamic.

En esta oportunidad yo no participé de la organización pero los niños pudieron disfrutar de la EBDV y llegaban felices a casa cada día con nuevas experiencias para contar.

Creo que para ellos estas vacaciones han sido mucho más de lo que imaginaban y aún nos quedan más experiencias por compartir. Y como ya se acerca el inicio del nuevo año escolar debemos aprovechar éstos días al máximo!

Espero que ustedes y sus pequeños estén disfrutando juntos de éstas vacaciones escolares, ya sea en casita o con paseos fuera de ella.

Y recuerden que no importa la actividad ni el lugar, sino pasar tiempo de calidad con nuestros hijos.

Cada día que tomamos para compartir con ellos fortalecemos los lazos padre-hijo y entre hermanos, lo que es de gran importancia para el desarrollo de una buena dinámica familiar.
