I found myself in a tough spot when I left a job that provided me with a place to park my van this Spring when I moved to Florida for a dog training job.
I ended up finding out about a series of springs in the area that had free campsites through someone at a spiritual meetup for reiki.
This spot is about 20 minutes from the reiki place and 40 minutes from Panama City.
What I love the most about this place is the ICE cold spring fed water is great for cooling off.
There are three campsites and quite a beautiful grounds to explore and discover but dont get caught in the sinkhole.
Stay at this campsite next to the beautiful blue springs free of charge if you make reservations online!
Three new campsites were opened in January 2021 south of the Blue Spring Day Use Area near a slough that connects to the spring and Econfina Creek. The campground entrance via Blue Spring Camp Road is now separate from the day use area entrance (see site diagram). Each of the three campsites at Blue Spring have a picnic pavilion with picnic table, pedestal grill, fire ring, and waste receptacle. A shared portable toilet is centrally located within the campground and there is an access point to Blue Spring Slough, which is adjacent to Campsite 1. Maximum capacity of each campsite is eight people. All campsites require a free reservation. Access is via North Blue Springs road, a graded dirt road, and Blue Spring Camp Road, a gravel road.
The Blue Spring Day Use area is a short walk away or can be accessed by water via the slough in a kayak or canoe. Blue Spring, with its clear spring waters and steps leading down to the spring, is a popular day use area that was recently improved and rehabilitated from the severe impacts of Hurricane Michael. Amenities include picnic pavilions, a boardwalk, a viewing deck and a karst feature overlook bridge. Day Use is allowed from 8:00 am to 8:00pm in the day use area without a reservation.
