Hail to the Hive!

This weekend we find ourselves back in the Llangollan area. I had a good idea where I wanted to moor up in quite a scenic spot and luckily, as it’s not busy this time of year, there was a prime spot available.

Sunday morning (this morning) was absolutely stunning. It had that fresh, crisp, mwinter clarity you get when the sun is out and I felt it was not a morning to be wasted.

So after making the short walk to empty the dunny I unloaded the wood logs in desperate need of chopping and also the axe plus chopping block. I have a big tree stump I use as my chopping block. Works beautifully.

Despite being March and this is Wales, it wasn’t too cold and once chopping commenced a t shirt was perfectly suitable clothing and I wasn’t in the slightest bit chilled.

Living on a boat there are always chores and logistics to think about but I have to say chopping wood with an axe is one of my favourite chores. Emptying the toilet is easily my least favourite so this morning I’ve certainly done the zero to hero climb and all before 10 o’clock!

Immensely satisfying. It’s a great feeling chopping wood and as Ive said before I find the cyclists are way friendlier when you’re wielding an axe.

So as the sun sets later today and the temperature takes a dip we have plenty of fuel to feed the stove.

A Sunday morning well spent!
