When Typhoons Destroy, We Farmers Rise and Plant Again! - AStory of Courage, Hope and Replanting!

As a Farmer, I can say that "No matter how difficult the challenges are or how hard we fall, we can still rise, give thanks and move forward to be stronger and better than before. Plants/crops can be replace, soil can be toil but life and safety is the most important for us to do all of this."

Greetings to all fellow farmers here on hive! Most especially here @hivegarden. How are you doing today? I hope we are all doing great! This time I will share with you all our vegetable crops after the devastating super Typhoon Uwan.

This is what happened on our vegetable crops after a few hours of Super Typhoon Uwan’s devastation. It started Sunday night around 10 p.m. and lasted until about 3 a.m. Monday. The winds and rain were so strong that we couldn’t sleep until morning. As soon as the weather slightly calmed down, we hurried to check our surroundings and also our garden, and this is what greeted us.

Landslides are everywhere that were blocking the paths, damaged vegetables crops everywhere, and gardens washed away by landslide and by what used to be a small stream. Because of the heavy rainfall, the water becomes more and stronger that swept away many of our crops. Some of our gardens slid down the slope since our vegetable plots are in terraces, causing the soil and plants easily to collapse downhill.

But despite what happened we’re still grateful that only about 15–20% of our carrots and cabbage were buried or destroyed. At least we still have something to harvest, unlike many of our fellow farmers here that their crops were completely wiped out. Some of those had just been planted, others were in their productive stage, and some were already close to harvest. But sad to say this typhoon harvested them first.

This typhoon brought a heavy blow and a big loss in agriculture. Not only for us farmers but also in our province and the whole country. Instead of having something to harvest this coming December or Christmas season, many will now face losses, hardship, and a sad holiday. But despite everything, we remain thankful that we are safe and strong. We can always plant again. Even if we won’t have a harvest this December, what matters most is that we are healthy and alive to be able to start over.

We have no control over these natural disasters or calamities, so we entrust everything to the Creator, praying for guidance in our daily work. We will rise better and stronger. We will plant again. And someday, we will harvest more than what we lost. We may fall a thousand times but we can rise a million times.

Thank you so much for taking time to read my blog I really appreciate your time and support! Always stay safe and don't forget to keep smiling! Mabuhay!
