Feathered Friday - Tame Heron and Others

Here are a few sightings by a pond for this #featheredfriday

Here is a super tame green heron hunting by the pond.

It was so tame I could walk just by it and observe it hunting for bugs, fish and frogs.

It might have grown up in a park or something since it was so tame. I must have grown used to humans and didn't mind me watching it. I could almost touch it.

I saw it catch a few insects in the grass, probably crickets and grasshoppers.

Now it spotted something under a tree by the lake.

Lots of young frogs are probably going to be its main course. Eventually it ended up flying to the other side of the lake but this is the most tame green heron I've ever encountered.

Now for a pterodactyl.

This great blue heron let out a few loud croaks then landed on the beaver island.

For some reason it decided to act like a stick. I suspect it needs to appear non-threatening so that fish will eventually start gathering near its feet.

Now for a barred owl in a cage. This is from an earlier day when I visited the raptor rescue area and managed to barely get this shot with my zoom lens through the tight knit mesh. Most my other photos didn't turn out.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
