Underground architecture: Volkovskaya metro station

Hi friends, today I was wondering what story topic to choose. In the previous weeks there were several fairs in the city, but I decided to save my nerves and money and did not go to any of them. So I don't have any over-the-top material that I want to share urgently, but I do have a lot of photos taken in various cozy places. It seems like you and I haven't been down to the subway in a while... Well, it's time to fix that!
Just recently I visited the Volkovskaya subway station and photographed the interiors of the station. Excursions in the subway remain a low-budget entertainment. The ticket in the subway still costs 70 rubles, which is about $0.83. However, you can easily save money, for this you only need to buy a special transport card. The trip to the subway using the transport card costs 49 rubles (about $ 0.58). The card can be used not only in the subway, but also in other urban transport, and you will always receive substantial discounts when paying fare.
Before I go down to the subway, I want to show you what the street near this subway station looks like and tell you a little about the surrounding area. The building inside which the station is located, I didn't take a picture - it's an ordinary shopping center, built a few years ago. Nearby is a small residential neighborhood with nice low-rise buildings. But beyond this small neighborhood begins the "gray belt" - a huge industrial area. This station has very low passenger traffic, and this station would not have been built at all, probably, if it were not a necessary step on the way to the densely populated areas of new buildings.
The name of the station sort of hints that we are on the edge of the inhabited world - the station is called "Volkovskaya", that is "wolf place" - the historical name of the area. Wolf packs inhabited the area more recently, there are documented records of wolf attacks on humans in the 18th century. The plot with the attack of the wolf pack is depicted on the stained-glass window, which is placed over the escalators near the entrance to the station. Hopefully, the travelers got safely to the village, which stood on the bank of the river Volkovka.
A marble mosaic depicting this village meets us at the exit to the passenger platform. The village looks rather gloomy and unfriendly at first glance. But look closely - who is depicted in the lower left corner?
The marble striped cat is considered a mascot and brings good luck to anyone who pet it. You don't have to pet the owl, but you might as well, why not? It seems to be the only underground owl in the city.
The station hall is decorated in purple - and this color scheme perfectly matches the dark and mystical reputation of the area. At the end of the hall is another marble mosaic, also in Florentine mosaic technique.
