Fan Behind Gruntys Revenge Redone Mod Steps Away From Project
1 comment
If you are a fan of Nintendo products then you know just how slow they are in giving fans what they want. You may be aware of how protective they are of fans that attempt to do that simple thing as well. While not related, the fan working on Gruntys Revenge Redone is stepping aside – not out of fear of litigious action, they are simply burned out. Unlike many other modders in the scene though, this fan is doing something interesting – releasing all of the work done so far for anyone to work on rather than take it with them. They are doing this BEFORE litigious action is taken by Nintendo, which we know would come eventually, their track record shows when modders start bragging they are done, Nintendo lawyers swoop in.
What Gruntys Revenge Redone is
If you are unfamiliar with Gruntys Revenge Redone, you are not alone, prior to reading about it myself, I had no clue about it. The developer was attempting to recreate the top-down Game Boy Advance (GBA) original game using the Nintendo 64 Banjo-Kazooie as a base.
From the older gameplay video posted to X, embedded below, we can see quite a bit of the work was indeed done. The goal was all 7 worlds re-imagined using the 3D engine on the Nintendo 64, and according to their goodbye note, they got close but still an insurmountable amount of work for one person remains.

A Sad Time But a Light At the End Of the Tunnel
, YoomTah has spent thousands of hours on this project. It seems it is time to step away for their mental health. Always a wise decision, games should be fun, not mentally and physically draining.Sources to check out on the future of Gruntys Revenge Redone include Banjo Kazooie Grunty’s Revenge Redone on X and Facts about Banjo-Kazooie, also on X.
