Hello my great movie family, welcome to my blog. I have actually been preparing for my exams and so I never watched any movie, there was actually no time for me to do that. I am on break now and the first movie that caught my attention when I searched my moviebox was titled: IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY, it was a soothing movie I needed for the moment. Off course it is my preferred choice a K-drama, the title alone relays a little part of the drama and you will get to know many others when you finally watch the entire movie.

To me it was not just a drama but it showed me what it meant to truly heal, not just mere healing of letting go but one that comes from inside. The drama also gives deeper insight on the overall mental health, something we often ignore. This time around I was just anticipating what the drama would look like, the thriller of the drama was quite captivating and I downloaded the whole episodes at once.

Okay, back to my review, the title of the k-drama is IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY, it has 16 interesting episodes, it was released in the year 2020 and the main cast are: Kim Soo-hyun as Moon Gang-tae, Seo Ye-ji as Ko Moon-young, Oh Jung-se as Moon Sang-tae, Park Gyu-young as Nam Joo-ri and many others.

SUMMARY OF THE MOVIE Moon Gang-tae is a young handsome man who works in a psychiatric hospital. He looks calm and strong on the outside, but inside he is broken and tired because he has spent his whole life caring for his older brother, Moon Sang-tae, who has autism.

He obviously had no choice but to play that role, their parents died and he was left alone to care for his brother. It looked like a normal routine that they would always have to be relocating to new places every winter because his brother had phobia for butterflies because of the traumatic event that happened while he was younger, watching his mother being killed by a butterfly made him scared every time he sees it.

Moon Sang-tae, despite his autism also had some strength, he loved drawing and painting, he has ability of recalling things quite fast and he loved his brother, he worked part time to raise money so he could buy a camping vehicle so that he and his brother would not have to be moving from one location to another always.

One day, they meet Ko Moon-youn, a young famous children’s book writer. She is beautiful, bold, and fearless but deep inside she is also broken from her painful past. She was tough, rude and detached on the outside but deep down she truly wanted to be loved and cared for.

Personally I would infer that their meeting with Ko Moon-youn was fate. They all had one thing to achieve which was to find the path to true healing and living the life of their dreams.

Everything changed when Ko Moon-youn and Moon Gang-tae meet, they had developed this strong bond of love towards each other since childhood though they had grown and parted ways. Ko Moon-youn still remembered him and wanted them to be together as she tried all means to get him but Moon Gang-tae keeps pushing her away because he never wanted to go back to the past.

Well, it’s a pretty long movie but each episodes leaves you with the curiosity of wanting to watch more. I might not narrate every single thing but I will just share some part that stood out for me.

So they finally got acquainted, Moon Gang-tae, Ko Moon-youn and Moon Sang-tae and they lived with each other, Moon Sang-tae grew in his drawing and painting skills and was Ko Moon-youn illustrator for her book which they both finally published together.

When these three lives come together, everything changes. Gang-tae learns to love and to live for himelf, Moon-young learns how to open her heart, and Sang-tae gains confidence to live his own life. Despite the hurdles and fights they all found their path to healing, they all faced their fears and were able to conquer.

WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THE DRAMA I loved the strong bond between the two brothers and how they were able to stay strong and stand by each other. The drama made me realized that day, that it is very okay to cry and let it out rather than bottle up your emotions. Some part were quite emotional though and I cried at some point but it was truly worth watching.

WHAT I NEVER LIKED ABOUT IT They movie did not really show how Ko Moon-Youn’s mother ended and that kept me wondering what would happen to them if she returns. Anyways it was all a drama and I take it that way. But in all, everyone have hidden scars and it is not so bad to admit that we are not okay, most times our healing comes when we help others find their path to healing.

Thank you for stopping by my post, you can give it a try, it was indeed worth watching.
