The tavern fell silent. The game was muted. The drummer rested his sticks gently on the skin of the drum, summoning the room’s attention. The pianist and guitarists followed suit, making way for the singers. Then, as the lead voice rose and pierced through the beats, the house transformed; what was once a tavern became a dance hall.
