We decided to go all in and hit up the Feijoada House and experience a true Brazilian feast.

This post is about the Coffee that was served afterwards.

The waiter brought out a contraption I had never seen, a siphon brewer, also known as a Vacuum brewer.

Heat is applied to the spherical bottom chamber that is filled with water.

The vapor pressure in the bottom chamber forces hot water up through the tube which hits the coffee grounds from the bottom up. I was surprised how fast the bottom chamber heated up. I suspect that the water that was in the bottom chamber was already hot and only needed the bunson burner to knock it over the edge to the state of turning the water to vapor.

After the ground are saturated, and all the water from the bottom chamber is in the top chamber, the coffee begins to flow back down into the bottom chamber. it is fun to watch!

None of us had ever seen coffee brewed like this before, so it was a new deal for everyone which was funny.

The apparatus is dismantled and the bottom chamber becomes a pouring pot for our individual cups.

The coffee was enjoyed black, and was very good after the massive feast we had.

Coffee update: I secured some very high quality coffee beans from a local shop that sells things directly from farms in brazil. The beans I got are grown in the rainforest and the coffee that is created with them is beyond good. Perhaps i will make a post about since I now like documenting my coffee in my adventures.
