Well, what are you waiting for?! With the Geneva Motor Show having been canned, carmakers are scrambling to find alternative means for unveiling their newest, most exciting creations. You have only minutes to go, so head over to
before it's too late!Having teased us for a week now, even before GIMS' cancellation, Alfa Romeo will now be using the internet to make their reveal. Specifically, it'll be announced at 4.30PM CET, 3.30PM GMT, or 10.30AM EST - whichever timezone you're in (11.30PM Kuala Lumpur for me ).

In all honesty, it might've been redundant for me to write this, but I didn't know that they're going to announce it so soon, until I logged onto Twitter a few hours ago. Since I had already drafted this post earlier, I may as well milk some extra content, eh?
Audentes Fortuna Iuvat
The English translation to that age old Latin proverb, is "Fortune Favours The Bold". Militarily, it has been the motto which guides the values of uniformed men and women around the world. Politically and socially, it forms the principle to which many of the wealthy and powerful rule by.
For Alfa Romeo, it marks a new chapter for them. Based on the videos that they've shown us on social media, it looks like Alfa is bringing back the GTA nameplate. If you're not familiar before, "GTA " stands for "Gran Turismo Alleggerita ", or "Grand Touring Lightened ".
While not a reference to the wildly popular Grand Theft Auto, in layman's terms, this could herald a re-engineered Giulia sedan, one more stripped out, hardened, and more powerful version than the one which we know and love.

“The hood has been slightly lifted and is characterized by a clear cut to fit a more powerful engine.”
It will surely sit above even the "hardcore" Quadrifoglio variant. On that video, much of what's been shown is the front-end, and we can see some big differences here. It has a re-designed front fascia with even more aerodynamics and cooling capabilities than the current Giulia.
More carbon-fibre is present, with a very aggressive, and seemingly active front splitter. There also appears to be re-worked ducts to channel cooling air for the brakes. It has plenty of motorsports inspiration in that one section of the car lone, so we can only imagine (not for long ) what the rest of the car will look like.

“The pop rivets on the sides and on the fenders give the shell greater solidity and increase the car’s stability.”
This could potentially mean that a Giulia GTA might get some revised brakes, and that can only mean that it'll be needed to stop more power. The Ferrari-derived 2.9L, twin-turbo V6 might see some modifications that it might push horsepower far beyond the current 505hp, rumoured to be at least 600.
Just as any hard-edged performance car, it wouldn't be enough to simply carry some horsepower bumps. That said, Alfa's engineers might also make some revisions to the suspension and chassis. With some stiffening, and increased horsepower outputs - we could see a new high-strung sedan that'll make the M3 and E63 AMG shiver in its boots.

“Reducing the unladen weight to 745 kg makes it possible to drastically improve the car’s performance and handling.”
But Wait, There's More!
Well, rumoured to be more… According to some sources at least, Alfa may not unveil one, but two new variants to the Giulia. With a tagline like "Fortune Favours The Bold ", then boldness can be expected.
Alongside the hardcore but still road-going Giulia GTA, Alfa Romeo might just release another variant that could hark back to the GTAm of old. The name's origin is shrouded in mystery so far as I can find, but it may likely stand for "Maggiorata ", which means "Enlarged ", making up the full moniker of "Grand Touring Lightened Enlarged ".

It may sound like an oxymoron, but what it means, at least back in the old days, is a displacement increase. The old GTAm originally had a 1.75L engine which was later upsized to 1.99L to compete in the 2000cc class of motorsports, built and engineered by Autodelta, a tuner for race-going Alfas in the old days.
So, will we see the Ferrari-derived 2.9L V6 be enlarged to 3.0+L? Maybe, but the more plausible explanation is an increase in performance through other means, given that we now live in a world of downsized engines for emissions control.
Thus, in this modern Giulia GTAm, we could see an even more hardcore, track-focused change to the Giulia GTA. Maybe a wider stance (it would be cool to see those thicc fenders like the old GTAm ), more aerodynamic additions, and even more austere weight saving.

Expect a minimalist interior with little sound-proofing, some roll-cages, and maybe even a removal of the rear-seats. It's not like you'll be carrying passengers anyways, since the GTAm is rumoured to be a track-only model. But we'll see…
Right, usually I do some outro to every post that I make, even ones that don’t need one. But I'm not going to waste more time here. Go to
, and get some popcorn ready, NOW!

You'll hear from me soon, once I've gathered my thoughts, and got a good night's rest.
